This question does not really relate to the stock market though...

    I'll try to be brief.

I have this important job interview sometime next month.
And I really want to get it.
It's still a call-center position, but it's with a company you guys know REALLY well ;), and considering the job market in Portugal right now it's just awesome.
I really want to stabilize my finances, raise the capital for my investments, and stay with this job for a while.

So I thought about writing a short biography, explaining why I'm the right guy for the job and stuff, that I could read in the interview.
Here's my thought process: "It's how epic people do it in the movies..."

I'll try to find another place where I can bounce this idea off employers, but what do you guys think about it?

    Am I imposing too much?
Or will this work just as I am expecting?
Should I still prepare myself to the fullest, but let them control how the interview unfolds?

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts...

PS - Do you know of a place where I could reach employers and bounce this idead off them?

Honestly, I don't know I'm a bit iffy on doing that. You never know how they will react. It depends who you have sitting there. Perhaps you could write it and put it in your pocket and then use it if it seems right.

Ummm...i'm abit leery on how people do it in the movies and then you take it up on real life, how about just being yourself and the rest will take care of itself, they might spot that 'movie-act' thing and it ends up being a back-fire...just my $0.02.

Interviews are always intimidating. Even after being through a bunch it can be hard. Some general thoughts:

    • Don't frame it in your mind you're being judged. Frame it in that you are a solution to their problem; they need someone to do the job. It is true and the HR folks have to find someone that works.
    • Answer with the truth. Lies will come back and bite you hard.
    • However, don't feel like you can't "finesse" some of the questions you are not already super up on. But be ready to train up fast to meet the challenge.
    • Be yourself. Act like an actor and anyone who is barely competent will see right through it.
    • Dress the part and be well groomed. Visual impressions are big. How you dress depends on the operation. A sharp three piece suit will work wonders in some operations, but will look stuffy in others. Looking like a borderline slob may be OK in creative positions, but will end all chances in others.
    • For God's sake, show up on time. I've been part of a hiring team (as a technical liaison) and am stunned on how many folks are a no show or breeze in late.
    • If anyone references a problem they are having right now, grab it and run with it. If you show that you are a problem solver, anyone but a dullard will see that. Personally, I know in some IT gigs I've interviewed for, presenting a solution before I was even on payroll really went a long ways to getting the handshake and a job.

All that said, best of luck. Here's hoping it goes well, you get the job, and can start rolling those greenbacks into investments. :D

If I had the money to invest I would hire someone to train me and I would put my hands on business. As I don't I am just learning for some day that I can invest.

Uh, I don't think reading a pre-prepared speech will do you any favors in a job interview, it's incredibly easy to tell whether or not you're *faking* it. Most of the time, when you get to that stage, the recruiters know you're capable for the job already, they just want to make sure you'll fit into the company culture and to confirm that you can do what you say you can do.

That said, having a rough idea of how to answer all the typical interview questions (what are your strengths, weaknesses, etc) is a great idea. Just make sure to be flexible to the position/company you're interviewing for. Remember, employers want to hire the person that's best for THEIR needs

I'd just stick to letting them ask you questions, then giving them the right answers. And I'd also research the company and have questions you'll ask for them to answer as well.

Yeah, I ended up not reading anything. :)
I did prepare a self-presentation, and I felt good having that... Also because it was an English speaking job.
I even timed it, trained giving the speech to my friends, etc.

I got a call a few days ago, letting me know that my application will be on hold till the 10th of April.
I guess this means they were really impressed, or not at all....

On a side note though, just received the best blowjob of my life 20 minutes ago... So life's good.

Lol congrats on the blow job, although I'm not sure if your partner would be particularly happy that you're posting in a forum straight afterwards...
