Political cartoons are easy to digest political statements that lampoon everything from yellow journalism to corrupt politicians, and the tradition goes back as far as there were newspapers or broadsheets to print them on. They DO have an impact, but I agree that political cartoons are not a way to combat this rising threat.

That said, the Charlie Hebdo attacks proved that these cartoonists rile them up, and that they're willing to retaliate over some of the more offensive ones. In some ways, it's honorable to fight armed terrorists with artists, instead of with more guns.

Pretty sad state of affairs when even the Iranian regime is calling out American foreign policy in regards to the ISIS threat. Even they are saying we are not doing enough to defeat them. Isn't that unbelievable? I certainly never thought I'd see the day. Even previous liberal regimes have been somewhat adequate on foreign policy. Not the Obama administration, though.

Agree. Some say this is largely due to Valerie Jarrett's influence. But I think it also speaks to his own ideologies, such as the common far left belief that the US is the cause of most of the world's problems.

And while I find the top cartoon a little distasteful, I must admit that the bottom one is funny.

If ISIS didn't get media attention, they would have to find a new enemy to justify the military industrial complex. They tried to make the Palestineans look like a real threat with their so called rockets that they are firing at Israel. If you look on wikipedia to find out what these rockets are, they are little more then flying pipe bombs. Their propulsion system and explosive is little more then fertilizer mixed with sugar.

So every time they fire one of these flying pipe bombs, which costs like $100 to make, some sort of anti missile rocket is fired which costs $50,000. That means big profit for miltary industries.

That is a fact, we can call it business propaganda and even say it's really smart, but we are not taking into consideration that people are being killed by this. War marketing we can call it.

ISIS is going to kill people anyways. This a non-violent way of striking back that also happens to be kind of funny. It's like placing a "Kick me!" sign on their back, and running away before they can do much about it. If they retaliate too hard, and people die explicitly because of these cartoons, they're justifying a stronger military effort from the countries involved.
