Just to be clear though, I'm not short the market. I just did it as a hedge, because my portfolio was leveraged. Run now I'm still pretty much fully invested, just not leveraged.

I think the United States is already getting ready for an intervention into the crisis, this is what we do, intervene into everyone's business. It is scary though that the Russians have some bombs that could do a lot of damage if they get a bur under their saddle and decide to deploy them. My guess is that we will get involved in this crisis, even more so than we are already, and therefore the stock market is going to suffer as a result. I guess time will tell.

I'm largely libertarian, but I tend to veer away from them when it comes to foreign policy, national defense, etc. I think we should do whatever is in our own best interests as a nation... which is NOT saying that we should come to the aid of anyone and everyone else at our own peril, NOR am I saying that we should isolate ourselves totally and always 100% "mind our own business". It should come down to what's in it for us and what's best for us.

If that means keeping a military vacuum filled in a foreign country is in our best interests, so be it. If it means helping our allies is in our best interest, so be it. If it means "minding our own business" in some instances, so be it. No doubt it can be a difficult decision either way, but foreign policy should never be taken lightly in any situation.

The U.S has always tried to maintain it's influence in the global stage, but if it continues to pursue this mentality; I feel strongly that it will fail. The world no longer has only one superpower and the more they are pushed; the more they will be incentised to band together to protect their own interest. Anyways, I this is getting a bit off topic, but that's my 2 cents.

Well Russia has a huge marked in Asia, especially China and Ukraine. I doubt their economy is going to suffer from a significant blow cause of Crimea crisis. And I'd say that they kind of feel good cause they're not selling their gas in Europe (or most if it). I just hope they won't start a war.
