Pope Francis is very left wing. I'm surprised there hasn't been attempts on this life. He's definitely different than Pope John Paul who was an extreme anti-communist who condemned liberation theology. Liberation theology claims God favors socialism, and that social justice is a major part of God's kingdom on Earth.

That "someone" were the bankers. Bankers make a lot of money during wartime. And the people of the nations are expected to pay for these injustices against humanity. Wars will stop when government can no longer find people willing to go to war!

The pope is right, there are a lot of powerful people who make a lot of money off of war and they generally don't want peace.

Not only the bankers Taki, simply everyone that deals with money at a certain point loses interest to know where it comes from as long as it keeps coming. That is how certain industries still exist.

Sadly the pope is correct. There are a lot of very powerful and very wealthy people who wish to remain powerful and therefore will create war out of greed. For example, do you really believe that George W Bush believed that there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq after 9-11? Of course he didn't! He wanted to get his hands on Iraqi oil. That is a fact!

Do you really believe that the Taliban attacked the United states on 9-11 because they simply hate Americans? Of course not! There is no way that they could have possibly planned and carried it out on their own. it was an inside job. The truth is that the Bush administration decided to create a distraction to justify their going to Iraq for the purpose of getting their hands on the oil resources there. They cared not about how many people were killed or injured in the process. It was done out of pure greed.

I think people freak out about our current pope because he is so progressive in terms of religious leaders and he points out very difficult truths for people to believe. The general populous does not want to face the fact that there are very evil and corrupt people in positions of great power, however it is a fact of life.

You actually believe that 9-11 was an inside job? You cannot be serious? Surely you've got some evidence that thousands of government employees and contractors all conspired together to carry such a thing out and be able to get away with it. Bin Laden and his sheeple planned the whole thing over many years - and it was not the first time they had attacked us. We later foiled numerous other plots to do similar things. You conspiracy nuts thinking this was planned and carried out by the US govt are out of your minds.

The Iraq war put us in the hole financially - it did not make us wealthier.

We did not get one drop of Iraq's oil - that is NOT a fact. You're either misinformed or making stuff up. But I believe we should have taken at least some the oil and paid the people a 20% royalty like oil companies here do. That would have helped them AND us greatly - economics is not a zero sum game... more than one side of a transaction or deal can and often does "win".

It IS a fact that we had intel that was not 100% accurate. And if I was a betting man, I'd wager that Sadam Hussein moved assets out of Iraq before we could get to them.

In hindsight, I think just about all of us agree that the Iraq invasion was not such a good idea. But we had everything under control until 2011.

I don't view the Pope's comments as a conspiracy theory. It's more reasonable than an opinion form out of a wild imagination. Manufacturers make weapons for a profit. War is profit. Human lives lost in war are simply a mere casualty, not much of concern. Present wars should not be happening and the reason they are happening is because of powerful leaders. Whether you have a direct invasion like the War in Iraq or an uprising of citizens against a brutal dictator who in turn unleash a vicious military on them, weapons manufacturers see a profit in this. So yes, I feel the Pope is right.

What if the wars are but a tool that is being used by said "Powerful People" to force nations all over the world to crave for peace? A one world government that will promise them that? There's a lot happening behind the scenes that we know nothing about. The end justifies the means? Expose everyone to the unpleasant conditions of war and when someone comes in offering them a peace deal, NWO [I'm no conspiracy theorist] they'll be eager to strike that bargain.

War makes money, therefore it's in their interest to keep it going. Who would've thought that such an atrocious thing as "war" could contribute to capitalism, haha? Jokes aside, this is the first time I agree with Pope... it's a harsh situation humanity must deal with. Not us who write about this, but those who directly suffer the consequences of others.

lol, so it's necessary to the Pope to talk about war for you to agree with him? :) To be honest this Pope talks about real things and makes people listen to him, he's wiser than the previous ones.
