The comment which has been taken down, was allegedly posted on the police department's Facebook page. This was their response [to people] whom they called "savages." Savages who stepped in to help a teenager whom some police officers had been harassing. After fleeing the scene, they decided to vent their anger on FB, declaring that such savages who dared step in and film police officers when they were "serving and protecting" deserve a slow and probably, painful death.

So the cops don't want to be held accountable for their actions? Why should they hate being filmed by anyone if everything they do is lawful?

The videos don't lie. These cops need to be accountable for what they are getting away with for years, and even decades. Now that everyone is armed with a cellphone we can not turn these guys in and just ice will be served too everyone and not the select few.

This also sounds to me like how a bank robber wishes there was no security cameras. The only reason is because they don't want to get caught breaking the law.

More and more things are being captured on video these days, and that can only be a good thing. It might make the police be more responsible for their actions and actually start to think before they act. Something that they hardly ever seem to have done in the past.

I agree with pwarbi. The innovations in technology has made it possible for people to document things easier especially taking videos of relevant events that can be considered as evidence in solving things. I just noticed that more videos of police officers abusing their positions are coming out nowadays. I think this is a wake up call not only for police officers but for everyone to always be careful with how they react to things and never act out of extreme emotions of anger.

Sorry, I have to disagree. The microscope is focused on the Police, and only on the Police.
The only way to be unbiased is if we similarly look at the actions of the hoodlums, drug lords and scumbags that today oppose the Police.

Back in London, when the friendly Bobby on the Beat walked around a city with near-zero serious crime, I would join the chorus against a miscreant policeman.
However, those days are long gone in London, and even less applicable to New York.
Our cities have become war zones. No lives are sacred, particularly not the lives of Pigs... I mean our ever tolerant Police. (Catch a policeman on film calling a criminal a pig and see the media outrage.)

No. Just as in World War II our noble US troops raped and pillaged along with our gallant Soviet allies, all was excused because we were the "good guys" (we hope).
But today our Police are fighting drug lords and countless criminal scum, with their hands tied behind their backs. Should we be surprised when tempers explode on occasion?

Criminality has become a national sport.
Congress treats the constitution like toilet paper. If this were not so the Federal Reserve would not exist as a private company controlling all money in direct conflict with the constitution.
Obama and the courts ignore US border traffic because it is politically correct thing to do, although quite illegal. Therefore we witness millions of illegals who enter impunity to raise the crime rate and feed off the public tit.
Where are the cameras on our borders?
Where is the motion to disband the unconstitutional Federal Reserve?
Somehow, only the Police are held accountable for doing their dangerous, but vital job.
Let's compare apples with apples before we further cripple the Police.

One day, perhaps, we will again live in an orderly and safe and law abiding society. Then it is appropriate to hold the police to those same standards.
Until then, thank the Police for putting their lives on the line every day, to protect a deeply ungrateful public.

I guess I don't mind videos so long as they are used in context of reality. I am on the side of the police until their is a proven injustice and video helps to prove or disprove that.

My problem is that the general populace seems to be on the side of anyone who is on the otherside of the officer. I know racism and injstice are terrible realities but the fact is, sometimes the realities have been warranted. Have you ever seen those videos of routine traffic stops and the officer gets shot and left for dead while the offender drives away? If I were a police officer I would be in trouble because I would approach every traffic stop with a drawn weapon.

No, I'm not against videos of the police in the performance of their duties but I am always on their side until gross negligence is proven. They have a duty I could not do and they should be held up and supported rather than sought after as criminals. If the police ever decide the ridicule of the masses and media are too much and quit their posts, then we might see their real values in our society. Sort of like when garbage men go on strike.

Obama and the Dems want illegals in and want to give them entitlements because they want more votes - they also want them to be able to vote.

And many Republicans want more illegals in because they provide cheap labor and become consumers - and at least some Repubs are willing to sacrifice political power for more consumers of their products and more cheap labor for their businesses.

As for the original topic, I think it's very foolish of any police department to make such a comment - IF in fact they did make such a comment and weren't hacked or misquoted.

But this notion of an epidemic of out of control racist cops all over the country oppressing, abusing, and wrongfully slaughtering completely innocent minorities put forth by the grievance hustlers and reinforced by the Obama admin and the DOJ is asinine. I'm all for cops wearing cameras that film the whole thing every time there is a confrontation. These incidents almost always arise from a disrespect for authority that has become all too common in some cultures that is being pushed by the entertainment and grievance industries.

I to have no "respect" for authority. Respect is earned, not forced. And I have yet to see any reason to respect these individuals for enforcing what remains to be some of the most insane laws the world has ever created....red laws anyone? Blue laws anyone? Drugs?

Someone wants to exchange money for sex....not anyone else's business except the two doing the transaction.
Someone wants to take a drink? Not mine...or your business.
Someone wants to smoke some dope...again, not yours or my business.

None of these laws should be on the books nor should our nation be wasting our tax money keeping people in prison for doing what people do.

Bottom line, if you break the law, you're gonna be in trouble.

I don't necessarily agree with all laws, but if I choose to break any of them, I'd better be man enough to accept consequences.

Those who have no respect for laws or authority are usually younger people who usually don't live to be very old. If you think you're some tough guy hardass or some sort of rebel or "gangsta" or whatever who is above the law and chooses to disobey lawful orders from law enforcement, fight them, etc - good luck with that.

Let us know how it works out for you when you decide to pick a fight with a cop the next time one pulls you over.

They were filming in public space, and they can't truly prove they filmed purposively toward what they did. It was public space, nothing more, nothing else. Period. Them giving these faux accusations makes me again wonder whether I'm safe surrounded by these atrocious people who pretend to be protecting us... hah, yeah, right.
