I recall Wall Street and I think it's a great example how does the stock market works, Limitless also shows a little about it... What movies have you guys seen that picture how the stock market works?
It's much more recent but I love The Wolf of Wall Street, it's a great movie. It's even better knowing that it's (loosely) based on a real story.
Wall Street (both the old one and the new one) and The Pursuit of Happyness (great movie) come to mind. The latter is a true story based on Chris Gardner's struggle with homelessness, etc.
Those are great movies. Two others that come to mind are Boiler Room and Margin Call. Both offer some good insights.
The Pursuit of Happiness is such a great movie, I really loved that one. I got really into the Wolf of Wall Street, especially because it was based on a true story and I really appreciated Leonardo DiCaprio's acting in this film. I know he didn't win the Oscar, but I thought he deserved it. It was just so amazing and so high energy. Wow, it blew me away. Wall Street on the other hand, I was not into it. That movie was just so dull, I could hardly follow the story line because I was pretty bored.
I really like the original Wall Street (1987) starring Michael Douglas and Charlie Sheen. Its a fantastic story, there are so many great quotes from that film, and the 80s nostalgia is off the charts. I couldn't stand the sequel (2011) "starring" Shia LaBeouf though. The 1983 film Trading Places is still worth a chuckle. Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd worked well together. While not a money movie, the lovable chief protagonist in the classic It’s a Wonderful Life works in finance (runs the local Savings & Loan).
I have watched Wolf Of Wall Street am yet to see Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, the former had very tactical lessons to it, the best part was him asking his peers to sell him a pen...very insightful i must say! Although i still wonder why he didn't have a gang of financial advisers to his name instead of trusting his peers some of whom later ratted him out...talk of learning about life the hard and bitter way.
"Wall Street" was a great movie. "Boiler Room" was not bad, although it was obviously more fictional and more of a dark comedy. I haven't yet seen "Wolf of Wall Street", believe it or not. I need to check it out!
I agree that was actually a really good sales technique and a good way to tell if someone can react on the spot.
I have the wolf of wall street at home for months and I haven't managed to watch it just yet, I guess that the fact that is over 3 hours has been holding me back...
