I've known people who commit suicide because a lover left them. Others commit suicide because they're beset by problems from every side. My neighbor's wife tried to commit suicide when her husband discovered that she used drugs. You see most of these people can be convinced not to commit suicide if you know why they want to kill themselves. Legalization of suicide and the promise of it being painless would draw these people in and they'd get some counseling, therapy — whatever would transform them into [being] productive members of society.

The only way it is illegal is if your survive. If you end up killing yourself it does not matter if it is legal or not. I do not believe in suicide but feel that people should have the right to make their own choice in the matter.

To play devil's advocate here, how can we accurately assess that someone is in there right mind to make this kind of decision? What if there are other motives behind wanting to commit suicide? How would you even begin to regulate something like this?

To me, this is jumping too far down the rabbit hole. I see this as something that can be exploited and regulated properly that lead to many unnecessary deaths.

That is correct. I am against suicide, but at the same time I understand that pain has to have a limit. People are responsible for their own actions, if someone wants to kill themselves they will not care if it's illegal or not.

People are gonna take their lives if they really want to and you won't be able to stop them unless they let you know. I think assisted suicide is ok for those who don't really have a quality life anymore.

Isn't that exactly why committing suicide should be legalized? If the government can't stop they need to let people have that right because sometimes people who want to commit suicide endanger the lives of others. Think of people who want to commit suicide by cop. How many innocent bystanders might get injured as gun fire is exchanged?

I agree with the sustained suicide. I know that this is allowed is Switzerland and I completely agree with their thought on it because everyone has the right to decide of his own life.

Jumping in a pool full of crocodiles!!! That is a painful way to go. To some extent, I think suicide should be legalized for those people with serious chronic illness. You know like, for those people who can barely move a muscle and they need constant care 24/7. But a normal people who is healthy should not be allowed to commit suicide. I have heard stories of people who kill all their family before committing suicide because they want to leave this world with their family.

Since it's against the law to commit suicide those who attempt to "free themselves" can be imprisoned for a year. But does locking this person up make it any harder for them to kill themselves?

You've probably heard stories of prisoners killing themselves. So since there really isn't a way to stop people from committing suicide should they desire to do so, we should have "suicide centers" where those who want to kill themselves go to. They could get counseling but those who intend to go through with it, should be helped through the process.
