Religious folks. Medicine has been around for ages and people have been using it all the time. If you get sick seek treatment first. Don't be like this man: Attending a Sunday service, this church-goer was bitten by a snake but refused treatment because he believed Christians [especially those who who are in church] can't be felled by something as minor as a snake bite. Apparently he was no saint though and a few hours later he was dead.
How sad of a situation is that. Medicine is around for a reason and I think getting bit by a snake is reason enough to get yourself treated at a hospital. I guess his faith in God didn't do him so good on that day. Wonder why they had the snake at church?
You won't believe this. Theirs is a snake handling church. They have this belief that even if they handle venomous snakes, God will take care of them. Stupidity at it's most extreme if you ask me. http://wate.com/2015/07/28/kentucky-man-dies-of-snake-bite-at-church/ Mossie Simpson is a snake handling church where members say the Bible tells them to “take up serpents” and to handle venomous snakes because God will take care of them. Followers also believe even if they are bitten by a venomous snake, their fate is in God’s hands.
Well, refusing treatment can result in death, that's hard to miss especially when we were bitten by a snake. I think that everything should be put in it's right place and faith should no replace medicine.
Wow I really don't know what to think of that and those beliefs. I have to agree that this is most definitely Stupidity at it's most extreme. After all what else could you call it? I am just sitting here shaking my head!!
Similar to an episode on the series of Constantine, where this preacher kept snakes and used such terminologies as you've noted above,...in his case he died and was rescued by a 'fallen angel'...I wonder whether this Kentucky man will also be rescued by a 'fallen angel'...people perish because of lack of knowledge...just plain dumb...a friend of mine used to tell me, God always measures one's foolishness...in this case, this isn't foolishness but pure madness!
This situation just proves that Christians aren't invincible at all, like they think. I guess their attitude is just so condescending it surpasses their reasoning.
Yikes, that is a pretty harsh generalization. I hope you realize that not all Christians are like that. That's like me saying all atheists are pompous douches.
