LOL, that's what they do, they use all sort of technology to spy on everyone and who cares about laws right?

IMO, I think the information gathering by the NSA and CIA is justifiable IF they agree to only use the information gathered for anti-terrorism efforts. There has to be a strictly enforced legal agreement where high ranking officials would have to resign or be demoted should any of the information gets leaked to the public or used as blackmail material.

Because if the technology for this kind of widespread spying exists, wouldn't we prefer that our nation has a hand in it rather than choosing to ignore the technology putting ourselves at the mercy of other countries who have similarly advanced technology but not sharing our interest in our own national security?

This is just the way it is now. There's no telling when or where "they're" listening. The craziest part is that you don't know that they are. There are pro and cons though so I don't know how big of a deal a little spying is.

America has a whole host of problems now. Climate change, congressional gridlock, and now this. It may take a long while before we fall but I want to get out of here soon.
Right now America has a lot of things to do and right now our leadership is doing almost nothing.

Lol, senate gets paid off to vote in their own personal surveillance project? seems rather fitting, honestly. When I discovered the NSA was keeping data on Americans I wasn't surprised, but this is a bit of a shock. Again, serves them right though.

I would like to think that i should be shocked but im not anymore. Privacy seems to be going in the world these days and with different kinds of laws trying to be created such as SOPA, eventually the internet and the people will lose and privacy will start to go. It wouldn't shock me if i found out tomorrow they have records of everyones texts as that what seems to be happening recently.

It was bound to happen. The moment the CIA knew they were on their side they can just sneak up right behind them and watch. It's just nature. Whenever someone likes something done to someone else and it happens to them, I wouldn't doubt they would get angry. Human nature at its finest.

I think it is a good idea that they are being spies on, it is about time that they also get the same treatment others have been getting, so that they can get a feel of it.

Lol, like gelsemium said, we're spying on everyone. Our rights start to vanish over time.

The CIA is spying on the senate which who knows what that could mean for Congress. I think that CIA and the NSA are practically mimicking each other on the spying thing. Who else are they going to spy on The Secret Service?
