Just because he was raised that way does not mean that he wants to support those things. I think that just because he did not come from a rich, white home does not mean that he cannot have similar views to the right wingers. I like him, personally. I think he is the smartest guy who is running.

I think he is better than Trump. I don't know what is up with America today that people like Donald Trump are high on the polls. Just recently, Kanye West announced that he will run for president in 2020. Politics just keeps getting better and better.

In what way is he better than Donald Trump, if i may ask. Because one is a brilliant doctor and the other is a brilliant business man. Sure, he may have his faults and may be a loud mouth, but I think he's a way more experienced manager and by far more appropriate for the White House than Carson. But please correct me if I am wrong.

I would not mind Carson for president mostly because he is not a career politician and has some great ideas for the country. However, I doubt he will get the nomination and if he were president, I think he would have a hard time getting most of his policies through congress. Due to his lack of experience, he could be great if he could get anything done. For me, I think a better choice is Carly Fiornia. I don't know a whole lot about her, but the way she handled the press after the Republican debate was definitely encouraging.

Fox News rallies against people pulling themselves out of poverty, studying and working hard, taking advantage of every opportunity, and becoming a world leader in their field?

I went to a university many years ago that had a pretty significant % of minority students, and no doubt many of them received generous financial aid, a nice dorm room, meals, etc. A good number of them simply "hung out" and eventually flunked out - spending little or no time in class, doing no studying, etc.

Nobody gave Carson his degrees and his place in life. He would have been foolish not to take advantage of any opportunities offered.

The difference between a fiscal conservative who favors a small government, and a leftist / militant / big govt type is that the first person wants equal OPPORTUNITY for everyone (which we pretty much all have), while the second person wants an equal OUTCOME regardless of effort or results.

If you're saying that the govt provided him the bootstraps, those tax dollars are paid by we the people. The govt works for us (or should) - not the other way around. He owes the government nothing - he made a huge success of himself, and has no doubt paid back many millions in tax dollars over his career. Can you say the same for the guys who are offered the same opportunities, yet don't put forth any effort and become something less than productive members of society?

Politics has been more and more of a Hollywood toy in America. I cannot wait to see who else will announce their run for presidency. Waka Flocka Flame announced his not too long ago either.

Thanks, but that's not a job I'd want - I'd rather be behind the scenes pulling strings. :D

If that is how you choose a candidate, well that is interesting. Oh it was a thread titled "Ben Carson?" with 1st post stating "What do you guys THINK?" I see you THINK people must say" I love welfare" to pass the DNC test. Pretty shallow. For the sake of argument, If you ran as a Democrat would it be odd if you never received any kind of welfare. Obama wasn't on welfare unless you count a scholarship with the name Barry attached to it. But that wouldn't be welfare instead it would be cheating or taking advantage I guess that qualifies him to run as a Democrat. Ben picked himself up and it is evil? There is a difference between want want want and need. Is it luck when you pick yourself up or is it hard work.
