I am learning to try to be a realist in some situations in life because there are some things you just have no control over. It is a hard concept to face because I tend to feel that I can change the world if I try hard enough. The one thing you can't change is others free will!
Attitude is really important. It's good to have dreams but you need to get up from your ass and accomplish those dreams. It's really the only way to do it, great things rarely just randomly drop on your lap. Hard work and dedication gets you what you want.
I agree with you, a lot of the things that are happening in our life have a lot to do with the attitude that he had before. It's curious because a lot of people (including me) don't seems to take attitude as something that important. We need to be extra optimistic about the things that we think that are the most difficult in life, recognizing and learning of our mistakes and keep up fighting.
When I first started working I was very yes sir, no sir, very business like, much more stuck up with people than I was in regular life. I blame it on a bit of a strict teacher and leadership type clubs I did at my vocational high school. Then when I started a deskside IT support gig I saw how casual my boss was with everyone. Cracking jokes, ribbing people, but still serious when need be. Over time I got to know 300 people in a small office/factory pretty well. Unfortunately 1 wanna be corporate big-wig didn't who met me a total of 3 times didn't get me. When he fired me I was told there were dozens of people protesting the move. Nothing became of it but still a few friends from that job 10 years on. Now I have a similar support role, a smaller bunch of people but same attitude, keep it calm and easy going. When something breaks for the umpteenth time people are still happy to see me. They're not blaming the problems on me, they line up and ask what they can do to help. Work life is much easier this way.
The one thing I always remember of the lessons I learned in my management training workshops and seminars is not to blame people. It was emphasized in the training that you only have the situation to blame because it is not healthy to blame people for it will just develop into relationship cracks. But situations don't free up people from their faults. It is a tricky scheme but I had learned how to deal with problem employees by putting emphasis on the situation and later on the fault would like on the erring employee.
Someone is making me realize that my attitude is somewhat weak...I definitely need to work on that, I guess of late, I've been using my emotional mind rather than the practical/logical mind,...that's why I've been seeping in all this negative energy, generally am a positive soul but of late a prickly 'pear -of -a -person' is exposing flaws in the attitude area of my life...anyway am a work in progress.
A person's attitude can effect their success. That's why it is super important to have a positive attitude and to spread it around.
I consider myself an optimist, but a realist. There is always a positive side, but thinking realistically is just what is the best for yourself.
This is very true. It's extremely important to have a positive outlook whenever working and making progress.
