Drugs can do strange things to people. One man who has a history of drug abuse went to a hospital to see a doctor but for some reason thinking he was invisible decided to steal some money from the hospital instead.

I think governments need to do more than they are doing to help drug addicts.

Wow. That's kind of shocking. I hope he gets the help he needs. It's a shame he hasn't gotten that help already.

I hope so too. Most crimes are committed by people by drug addicts. Since there is a correlation between crime and drug abuse, the government should have a mandatory treatment program for all addicts who are arrested. While not all of them will permanently beat their addictions, a number of them will and maybe there'll be fewer crimes being committed?

Mental health and drug addiction are some of the leading causes of crime, yet we still stigmatize it and turn a blind eye.
If we were to treat them like the medical condition they are, then we could drastically reduce the amount of crime in our society.

This was just really sad. I would've laughed at this when I was younger but I've seen the impact of mental disorders and drug addictions first-hand and it's nothing to laugh about. I hope they're treating him well.

Drug abuse and addiction can have a severe impact on a persons mental health and I don't think enough is being done to help people in that situation.

The problem certainly isn't going away and in this circumstance then putting the individual in prison for the crime, isn't going to help the long term situation he's in.

It's kinda terrible, because it's something that could realistically happen to anyone.

It's clear that the current war on drugs does not work. People might ask why public funding should be spent on addiction services. The answer is that if we can minimize issues such as addiction them surely there would be more public funds for everyone else in the long run.

The only thing this man will learn in jail is new ways to get high and new ways to commit crime.

Well, sounds like he found out he was highly visible when he was arrested! It just goes to show he was whacked out of his mind. I think anybody thinking they are invisible is either 6 or impaired to the point that they don't have any concept of reality. I mean really, what kind of thing is that to think? I think that individuals who are that doped up are going to suffer the consequences.

Drugs do make people do very strange things and think that they are perfectly ok to do them. I had a friend in high school who got high on acid and broke into the local sheriff's home while he was high, sad part was that the sheriff was home and I think you can figure out how that story ended!
