That is so incredibly sad. I wonder how much alcohol the kid ended up consuming. These parents should be locked away. I agree with some of the other comments on here, if the kid was that interested, a few medical articles, or maybe even a trip to an AA class would have been sufficient. Some parents really do lack the capability to be stable and responsible people.
What an irresponsible thing to do. Back in the day, we were all allowed a small sip of alcohol every now and then, usually on special occasions but nobody ever suggested getting us well and truly ratted as a way of deterring us from it. These parents deserve to go down for murder.
I hope these parents feel guilty for the rest of their lives. I hope they cry and beg for forgiveness that will never come. I hope they suffer until the day they off themselves. How is the penalty for a young person WANTING to try alcohol death? How can any being rationalize doing this to their own flesh and blood? I would gut myself before EVER forcing my son to drink himself to death. What the hell is wrong with the world. My cousin has been drinking and smoking since she was 14. It's really an unfortunate thing, but at least she's still ALIVE. Sure, she may be killing herself slowly, but at least it's not immediately and painful in the earliest years of her life. At least she can go out and experience the world and all it has to offer her.
To be honest I can't even imagine what would be going through the parents mind to think that is a good form of parenting. Surely they would have known better than to think it would teach him a lesson and they would have been aware of what might happen. Unfortunately in this case the worst case scenario did happen and all we can hope now is that it will be a lesson for other parents and show them what not to do in the future.
I was pretty shocked when I read this. His blood alcohol level was over .5 which is absolutely insane. I mean, i don't even understand how he didn't pass out well before he hit that point of inebriation. That is over seven times the legal limit!! I think it's also important to note that the victim's father was an alcoholic. This article didn't show any mention of it, but the victim (and those charged in this case) are not his biological parents. If I remember correctly, they were his grandparents. The couple were probably terrified of their grandson facing the same fate as his father. They definitely did not go about it in the right way, but I do feel sorry for them in a way.
Normally I wouldn't want to agree with a sentiment like this, but given the circumstances, a red ass is a much better punishment than, uh, dying?? by the divines Figures that a couple of old farts would kill a kid. Every day I just hate old people more. Show no pity for the damned.
It's actually heartbreaking that people die like this. I can see what they were aiming for, but surely they'd know he was drinking way too much?
Were they charged? How stupid and tragic for them to lose their son. I think they had ulterior motives.
Man, peoples stupidity never ceases to amaze me. Every time I think I've heard it all a story like this comes along and blows me away. The concept of teaching your kids that alcohol can be dangerous is an accurate one. But there are plenty of better ways of going about proving your point. Feel sorry for the kid and the family.
