If most men don't wash their hands after using the toilet then I doubt this study is disturbing. Oh, but it should be because you won't know if the person you shake hands with washed his hands or not after doing their business. And by the way the number of people who don't wash hands after using the toilet is quite high. 63% of men and 39% of women don't wash their hands after using the toilet.

Think twice before shaking hands with anybody next time. Or do it like the Muslims — use your left hand.

Did they really need to do a study to work that out? I thought it was already established as a well known fact that most men don't.

Have we all forgotten about the experiment they did with the peanuts placed on a bar? When examined, they found about 20 traces of different urine on them, were people had grabbed a handfull of nuts as they walked back from the toilet.

Ever since then I've never ate anything served in a bar and I never will again!

I don't wash my hands when I pee in public restroom, cause my penis is probably cleaner then anything I am going to touch in that place. I make a point of not touching stuff in the men's room.

A study, seriously? How much did the taxpayers have to kick in on this sexist foolishness?

That is an uncomfortably high number of people who don't wash their hands. I'm going to choose to ignore those percentages, so I can hopefully forget the numbers. I don't want to be weighing up the probability of whether my investors or board members have washed their hands prior to me shaking their hands in a meeting. I respect them too much for that.

In my private life though, I might embark on a crusade to save the world one pair of hands at time. ;)

I would beg to differ with the study. I have seen similar things on TV where the percentage of women who wash after using the restroom is very high like 93 percent. I think it depends on your definition of "washing" I mean does a quick rinse count? Do you have to fully lather your hands? I mean how did they do this study self report...or did someone stand in a restroom monitoring? Yes, people should wash their hands, but as long as they aren't making my sandwich, I give them a pass.

hmm not really surprised, though it is quite disturbing. There have been similar studies before and the results are often pretty much the same... a lot of people are pigs. :D

Yep. Definitely the most disturbing thing I've read today and I watched someone tug at Donald Trump's hair.

Jesus Christ, your comments are killing me. :D

But on a serious note, care to post the source? We don't know anything about the setting they used to do this study. Was it in a first world country or a third world one? What age were the people that participated? I think that that information would tell us more than just a click bait-y title.

If I've learned anything in all this time on the internet, it's that you shouldn't trust anything, especially something without a reliable source.

Nothing personal against the OP obviously, just commenting.

Click bait or not, we've probably all seen people leaving the restroom without washing their hands. Happens all the time. I'll never forget the peanut study though and for that reason, I've never touched the food at bars either. I'm sure it's probably a similar story at buffet restaurants too - urgh!
