I don't think they are real. There is no way to validate what someone saw except what he/she is telling us. What I know about this world is that it is full of lies and people tell you just about anything.

There are some who lie [for profit], others for the attention they'll get but there are some who actually are manipulated by dark entities to get people believing lies. I've read some NDEs whose teachings run contrary to what Christianity teaches and Christians are expected to accept these new teachings? For example there is the lie that when someone dies they go straight to heaven or hell when the bible states that when the Son of Man returns the dead shall be raised from their graves so they can be judged. So whilst they await judgment, the dead just are dead.

The brain does weird things when someone starts to die, even if they end up getting revived and part of me thinks this is something chemically happening in the brain and not someone partially crossing over to the other side. Truth be told, I am not sure what to believe. I would love to think there is a heaven out there.

This is kind of related but has anyone heard of a couple of instances where there have been road accidents and something strange has been seen that has lead people to the previously undiscovered crash site?

Two incidents I'm talking about is where couple were driving along a road and they see a naked woman lying on the side of the road. They report it to the police and off into the woods in the side of the road the police find a car that has crashed with a woman who was dead and a young boy who was just clinging to life.

The other instance was where people reported seeing a car careen off of a busy road. Police searched the area and found a crashed car that had been there for at least a couple of months complete with the driver inside, dead and foliage starting to grow around the car.

What's everyone's take on these events?

Define "real". Do you mean that a lot of people experienced them (both pleasant and hellish)? Oh yah. Do you mean they are evidence of a supernatural realm or afterlife, eh, probably not. Brain chemistry can explain a lot of them. It is, however, a pretty fascinating topic, imho.

All this sort of stuff fascinates me greatly. I love reading and learning about it.

I think what a few others have said about NDE's connected to chemical reactions within the brain makes a lot of sense though and I'm starting to think that this is what a lot of NDE's are. However I'm still keeping an open mind, a very open mind that is, on this subject.

Near death experiences apparently can be induced using a drug called Ketamine. Whether that's true or not however is hard to determine since there are some things which can't be explained. Take as an example, someone watching a surgeon open them up. While technically this isn't an NDE, since most people believe that their souls leave the body then maybe the first thing that should be explained is how a person can have an out of body experience.

That is a question I really don't want to know the answer for as I don't wish to have a near death experience, I have too much to live for!

Well, some people are convinced enough by the "hallucinations" to totally transform their lives. I am going to be so mad if I go to Hell, I swear! lol. I have read their is only the thinnest of veils that separate the dead from the living. I am pretty sure I was visited by the spirit of my deceased mother in law. We had all sorts of odd electrical activity in our home after she died including lights dimming, and alarm clocks turning on and off by themselves.

I think out of body experiences, or OBE's, are a totally different thing that gets into other things like meditation and even astral projection. But the account of someone watched a doctor opening them up, I don't know if it's the same account but I watched a show about strange accounts years ago and they featured the story of a woman who needed an operation on her toe to file the bone down or something, and she was fully conscious while the doctor was doing it and even chatting with him. Make of it what you will!
