There is a huge amount of strategy in Poker, but what I find the most intriguing is the body language and mind games you can play with it. For instance, if you take a sip of water when you have a good hand, and win the round, and do that a couple times more when you have a good hand and win the round, people might fold when you take a sip of your water.

Also, make sure to keep the game emotionless for you. Make the game emotional for them. If you know someone gets ticked off by others' bluffing, then bluff early, then back off the bluffing. If they don't like quiet, then be quiet. If they don't like bragging, do a little bragging, but again, when you're trying to push a negative. Do so, then back off.

Poker is a great and addicting game, I've spent many many hours on it, but since I got a family I simply don't have time for it anymore. I do miss the longs nights playing it though. :)

It's rough to keep doing that kind of stuff once you get a family but I think it's important to try to slot it in when you have the opportunity.
I say this not just for poker, but for whatever hobbies you have, whether it's poker, fishing or woodworking.

I do dabble in the occasional poker but solely for amusement. One of my colleagues often enters small tournaments on Pokerstars with a few dollar buy-ins and can often win a few hundred bucks every few months through that. It's not uncommon, either.

I like poker a lot, got hooked to it when I first watched the pros play it on TV. Then I went in to play it in a casino with friends and it was tons of fun as we actually won some money. And yeah it does share some similarities with stocks and investments.

It is a whole different ball game playing online poker versus playing in a live game. What I miss about the live game is the face to face interaction and trying to pick up the other players' tells. It can be done online but it clearly isn't as pronounced. Great game and fascinating to learn.

Poker for me is a game like so much that you love. And you can't stop playing it until you hate it. Usually that's when you usually lose all your money. Take a 8 months break from it, and then it happens all over again.

I agree. A large part of the experience of playing poker is sizing up your opponents, for me.

O man, I loved to play poker. I always used to play poker with my friends every week, but you know, things change. Internet poker can be fun as well, I think, but it's totally different.

When I play poker on-line, it's way more about winning, and nothing more than that. When you play it with friends it's more about the experience. For example bluffing to each other is totally different than on line and way more fun if you play it with real people if you ask me. :)

I only play Poker from time to time with my friends, but never with real money.
I know Poker can be very addictive and I know myself good enough in order to realize that if I were playing Poker with real money, I would end up really really badly.
Some of my friends played in the past in different clubs and they said they were actually earning some money, but to me it's not worth the risk.
I'm not even such a great player so I would never bet real money on Poker.
