Meditation is supposed to be about relaxing and getting outside forces out of your life, but there are real problems that people face that require more than just meditation, but rather medical attention. It is important that people seek medical help for these things. Meditation is designed to bring inner peace to your life.

I cannot see how meditating would be a dangerous thing. Unless you are channeling negative energy towards your neighbor or to yourself, that is different. Meditation is supposed to make you more relaxed and not feel more angry. If you are feeling hatred then seek some sort of help.

Meditation is really not the answer for everything. For instance, if you are a recovering addict, meditation alone cannot help you. You would need therapy, support and counselling. Meditation is just one tool of calming and soothing your mind. It is not the only solution. And that goes for other scenarios also, like with mental disorders or with problems. You can meditate but do not count on it to solve your illness or your problem. There are other tools for that, meditation is just part of the tools that you can use.

Sure, it's not the answer for everything, but it's not something dangerous at least as far as I see it. It's something that can really help us to get a new perspective on things.

To be honest I can't see it being dangerous in any way to be honest and while for some people it might not make the difference they want or expect, I wouldn't have thought there's any actual danger involved.

Meditation has been quite thoroughly researched now in clinical trial situations and shown to be good for mental health. And I say that as a person who does not meditate and has no interest in starting.

IMHO someone who believes in ominous dark forces that might leap out of spiritual portals to do whatever-these-dark-forces-do-to-people might want to stay away from the practice, but not because it is generally a dangerous practice. It opens people up to their inner psyche and for most people that is a positive thing.

It really depends whether it is a deep meditation similar to a trance or a meditation where someone relaxes and daydreams. The former can be dangerous as the mind can be disconnected and the body can be vulnerable, whereas the latter is similar to being half asleep.

The term meditation can cover many things, but when people do guided meditations it is to free the mind and to relax the body and soul. Deep meditation goes much further and is when people do out-of-body activities which can be dangerous like astral projection or lucid dreaming. Inducing a state is not natural and can be dangerous as yes, it can open 'portals' but also the person may experience traumatic events too.

It opens the door wide open to demonic oppression and possession. It's witchcraft and divination without you even knowing it. It is very dangerous and shouldn't ever be done. It's pointless anyway. It stems from false new age teachings.

I agree certain deep trance meditation is similar to hypnosis, but that is why when does meditate in such a way they need to be in a safe place and many say a protection prayer, so that spirits and gatekeepers will watch over them.

That's why I don't encourage people to astrally project or do other similar things. They may occur naturally and that's very different from consciously doing it.

Meditation that is like daydreaming is harmless and that's what most people do on a base level.

I am laughing on racist views, written above, most people, knew nothing about meditation. If most people on this forum thinks meditation is dangerous, better I don't say 1 word. 'Meditation opens door of demonic oppression and possession' what i can say ? please tell this also, how many demons India created in 7000 years ? because, In my country most people do meditation, it's part of our culture.
