There is no right or wrong answer here. Everyone has their own beliefs and believe what they are doing is the right thing. Who are we to judge what others do? If it makes them happy and bring them peace then that is all that truly matters. There are so many different religions and each one believes theirs is the only one that is right.

It all depends on your perception. I am sure not all of those saints made it to heaven since they probably had 'skeletons in their closet'.

While I respect everybody's view, those of you who are praying to Saints obviously believe in God, in that case it is wise to know exactly what God requires and this was left by Him in His 'Word' the Bible. And it clearly states in their to approach God through Christ..."For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.".

Also...'Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth & the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." -John 14:6

One thing most people seem to forget or fail to grasp is the fact that the saints weren't as holy as they think they are. Moses was a murderer. David was an adulterer. Elisha was vindictive. Paul was a liar. Just a few examples to prove that the saints weren't that much better than the average person. Isaiah didn't try to deny it:
Address your prayers to God, not man or angels.

I don't think it's up to us to judge anybody's beliefs and if praying to saints works for then then so be it.

If I was religious then I would be directing my prayers to the man in charge, God himself but if people think praying to saints help, then they're not doing anybody any harm.

This makes me think of St. Anthony, the patron saint of lost things. It's said that if you've lost something, offer it up to St. Anthony and he'll take care of the rest.

It's not St. Anthony finding it for you though is it? It just stops you from getting all frantic about the lost item and clears your mind, allowing you to think rationally about where you last saw it. It's the act of praying itself, rather than the person who these prayers are addressed to.

I was raised in a devout (and for that matter, at times anal retentive) Roman Catholic family, so we most certainly prayed to saints. I remember my grandmother giving me at least two enormous guides/encyclopedias on the saints for me to study. Later I went Protestant as I was interested in the religion and married a practicing Protestant woman. That religion not only doesn't pray to the saints, they consider it idolatry. Now, well, I'm agnostic, though certainly not hostile to other people's faith. But I don't pray to saints either way.

I've never really understood praying to certain saints or even angels. I think when you pray, the message gets picked up by the forces in other realms that can hear it. I don't imagine for a minute that someone asks for a specific saint or angel and another ignores it and says 'it's for X and not me', I don't think that's how it works.

As for saints, I see them more as examples of humanity and to be lessons people can learn from rather than to ask them for help specifically. I'm also against people being declared saints these days or being giving sainthoods, because who decides whether they are worthy or not? Public opinion or the church?

It's absolutely unbiblical, which just shows how lost the people that do this are. They claim to follow God, but don't follow his word, the bible. The bible speaks against this. These people are catholic, and they live by their own man made traditions instead of by the word of God. They're just as lost as atheists. They need to realize the truth and be saved.
