Think it depends on where you are. I live in New York City, and work in a very liberal industry. Not too many Christians, but the ones that I have met tend to be pretty open-minded, about a very many things. I'm sure it's different in, say, Southeastern Virginia--going to be more conservative down there, probably more strict as far as their views and beliefs.
Religious people always open minded, because, improvisation is fundamental of religion. If somebody following rituals of his religion obediently, can't make him religious. Religion and Science are two sides of 1 coin, both must walk together and fake coin, who supports religion, but not science or vice versa. can't work in market. If religion said anything, you must knew, why it's said like that. crosschecking is must. because, after crosschecking by all ways, then human starts believing more in religion. If somebody is crosschecking religion, it's human right , If anybody have doubt over religion, it's human nature. If somebody abusing religion, it shows his interest in that religion. so instead of abusing, you must clear his doubt. True Religious people always open minded and they like to help others. some black sheep exists in all religion, such black sheep, use religion for self-purpose, not for helping human to improvise. looks like, such black sheep exists more in world, that's why some human feel. religious people are close minded. Religious person always like gentle debate, because, by debate, he can solve question inside his mind and others mind too. and such debates based on laws and rituals represents, religious people always open minded. In short, If Religion, take support of science, it can help human to improvise and make him religious as well. scientists also have big role in religion. but, today scientists don't participate in religious debate because of some black sheep or other reasons. it's sad story. To make world religious, i think, Morals and science, both are important. in fact, human morals are based on science. so science and scientist's responsibility is also, to follow morals and clear doubts of people and realize human. what should be his morals.
1 Yogi can do treatment of himself, but , 1 Psychologists can't , why ? because, Yogi applies science in his life internally and externally from both sides. but , 1 Psychologists applies that only externally. Yogi applies science on his own body. He do experiments on his own body.He don't need certificate of any university. but, Psychologist goes to university , takes education and certificate and after that, start his business. In short, External science is more stronger today than internal science, so, that should be 1 of reasons, some people feel, religious people are close minded.
Of course religion is closed minded. If each religion step back and take a look or study other religion they will notice that it all talks about the same things. It just talks about it different but same concept.
My mother is very religious, and yes can be close minded with a very narrow perspective. However, I do know a good deal of people who are very religous, and yet not close minded at all. Two of them are even deacons!
Being religious cannot be considered as close-mindedness. Religion has nothing to do with the mindedness of people. It's just that close-minded people are just close-minded, religion is not responsible for them to be so. However, some religions may seem very restrictive to us. But, it might be absolutely normal for them. It's a matter of individual beliefs and principles.
I believe that all people who exclude or include something exclusively are close minded. As much as the argument goes for religious people they cannot prove God exist the atheists or agnostics cannot prove it doesn't. And it is easier to embrace something that seems ,ore logical. You have to be brave to believe in something you know and you have been taught by the books and teacher cannot be real. You need that strength so it is not fair to say this or that not only is it not fair but it small minded as well.
Agreed with this. The question I would ask is why try and single out religious people? As with any group, you're going to have people who are open to listening to other ideas, and others who think there way is the only way to do things. I don't think you can just single out religious people or a certain religion as being close-minded. It's far more dependent on the person and their individual personality.
I believe that religious people can be close-minded, and that this is a stereotype that has developed. However in the Roman Catholic Church you are supposed to be open-minded, and I believe many other religions also push their people to be open minded.
Not at all. If anything, those who are closed minded are those who aren't saved in Jesus Christ. We are all dead in trespasses and sins before we know Christ. Christ opens our eyes and shows us the absolute truth. So if you're not saved you're still living in the dark.
