I enjoy reading stories and articles like this. It really touches my heart to hear one would put their needs aside to help many others around them.

Whether it was the parents' or kids' deliberate choice, that doesn't really matter given the context. What's important here, is that the kid accepted it. Of course it would be really great if he did it all by himself, but even if his parents guided him it's still great regardless.

Interesting. About the McCann case - there are a lot of conspiracy theories surrounding what exactly went on there. What we do know is that her mother and father were arrested by the Portuguese authorities as suspects in her disappearance (something that the British media kept quiet), and the "charitable" fund set up for her has made the parents millions.

Oops, I think I forgot to take my cynics hat off again.....

Brilliant. Most of us adults could learn a lesson from this. Thanks for sharing this.

I doubt we will ever know what happened to Madeline, but I think it was pretty stupid of her parents to leave three young children alone while they went and had dinner.

There's three likely outcomes in the situation. She was either kidnapped and taken for slave trade in Africa/Middle East, the parents accidentally killed her by way of an overdose of sleeping pills, or she woke up, looked for her parents and either got kidnapped that way or got distracted and went down to the beach where she got swept out.

It's a good deed good for her. It doesn't matter to me now if it's staged or not we all need good news/media now and then and a symbol like this is as good as any other. My dried up heart actually felt something.

IF this story is true, it's really a nice gesture and one of the nicer news articles I've read lately. Heck, it's the only positive news article I've read this month if it's true. But I have to take it with a grain of salt, because a lot of times the media turns out these types of news stories just to fill content or tug at the strings of people and they are only partially true, or are made exclusively for the audience so that they can get television ratings and more nightly news watchers. I really do hope that it's true, but I have to wonder. The details don't always seem believeable on many of these types of stories, and I'm sure others feel that way when they read them like I do. The media thinks they can fool people all the time by churning stuff out like that, but the logical loopholes on things are easier to spot than they realize. Again, I do hope that there's truth to it, but realistically I won't hold my breath.

Exactly! Well said! We need more good news. We need more heart-warming news.. The news today is packed with fear, violence, worry , cruelty and sports scores! We need more hope. More stories that show the positive side of humanity.

That's so sweet! I wish more kids grew up to have hearts like this. I bet the parents are very proud.

I remember this kid from Japan who gave all his saved up money to the Yolanda storm victims in our country. Children are really innocent, pure and kind-hearted. They don't even know how much they can help, they just want to help. And I commend the parents as well for raising such kids. I know that it takes lots of patience and hard work to be able to raise such kids.
