I still think extending the vote to all EU nationals was silly, because that enabled migrants to vote too. Electoral fraud is possible and not only postal votes, but also by clerical errors with people of the same name. Some idiot gave me two polling cards once, one addressed First Floor, and another Flat C when it was the same (number followed by letter, and first floor) and they came to see if I was trying to commit fraud, which was weird as I only registered once. With the EU vote, it will be limited to exclude migrants, except the Irish, and those from British countries like Cyprus so far. That's how it ought to be. Vote if you have a UK ********, or are officially resident for so long.
Ah yes, the EU referendum! I believe it's been brought forward to 2106, which is interesting. I tend to think that the political establishment has already decided that we won't be leaving the EU, regardless of how the vote turns out. I suspect if the population votes to leave, there'll be some stage managed spat with Brussels, a "false" renegotiation, then we'll go back for another referendum (just like the Irish did with the Euro), at which the electorate will magically change their mind and we'll stay in after all!
If the vote does say 'Exit' then the government must do it, otherwise there will be protests. These 'negotiations' are for show, and we all know many EU members will not back it. Where will all the Hungarian or Latvian workers go if the UK stops giving them benefits? Many do want to leave, but because no one knows what will happen they are ambivalent. The issue is the EU Parliament has increased greed of power, and because they won't stop it's better to quit before things get worse.
The United States is a revolving country. It has it's ups and downs, but every country has that. A lot of things happening recently in the United States would lead me to agree that the US is corrupt.
If one was really to step back and think about corruption critically, has anything about corruption actually changed in thousands of years? Really the only change is technology which makes it so much easier, and so much faster for the masses to hear that something is going on or something could potentially be happening. The double edge sword is the technology because it is used in both nefarious and honest ways. It is to the point where no one knows what to believe anymore. I know as fact that there is all sorts of questionable things going on everyday, this is something that has not changed in years. In this day and age it would be fool hardy to believe anything short of that. It has never ceased to amaze me the things that people get just because they asked. It really should be no surprise that people would take the chance with propaganda or corruption to climb that leadership ladder. It has been going on for centuries.
Well, the US may have a certain amount of corruption but I will take our brand over the brand of many of the other countries in the world. We don't have to worry about a lof of things in this country that are huge problems in the rest of the world. I don't think spreading anti government propanda around is right...but a free press allows us to do that, and keeps us the strongest country int he world.
It is true that in some countries it is almost acceptable. In Serbia, where I live, when you go to see a doctor for anything more serious than flu you bring some chocolate for the nurses, some coffee and whiskey for your doctor and you are set to get good treatment. If you do not get these items you will be put last on the list and nurses and doctors will not give their best. I was just curious where is Serbia on that list? Where ever you go here you need to bribe somebody. It is the people's fault. if we stop bringing they will stop taking. I am surprised to read this article about USA. It doesn't look like you have it in your culture but I guess some genes are there.
