    It's all artificial perceptions, Dubai was advertised as a super high-end destination, so what happens is it BECAME a super high-end destination, it's really very telling of the power of advertisements and how much people do what they're told.

    I have heard that Dubai and Bahrain are becoming very popular tourist attractions and that they spend a lot of money on making their cities the destinations to go to. Right now, I would be a little too nervous to travel to the middle east though.

    I definitely want to go to Dubai. The pictures of the infrastructure that I have seen are incredible. They have freedom to be more creative there when it comes to that. Then being able to ride in a dune buggy in the sand...oh yeah

    LOL, so maybe it's worth it to delay your flight just to spend a little more time in the airport? :p

    I do not see that happening. If it does happen it will not be anytime soon like 100 years. This is something that they believe in strongly. They do not feel the need to be accepting of that lifestyle or any others that are against their religion.

    You can put it that way but still you never know, unless you are never the people who get carried away easily{like myself}...being a chocoholic, i lingered on for long at the chocolate stand{my very own fault}....i had to literally run, before they closed the ticketing stand, i was out of breath when i got there :eek:...ahem! blame it on inactivity{out of breath scenario}

    That's very interesting. The media is so powerful in that it influences people SO much. I also know many people who have gone there and said how lavish Dubai is. I would like to go sometime :)

    Dubai is a great place to visit for men. Women, no matter what nationality, are restricted. That country still has Shariah Law.
    Women cannot and should not travel along the streets at night without a male escort. Please, do not think you can go there and party like young women freely do here in the U.S.

    Dubai would be a good place for a woman to travel to, as the rules and religious laws are much less strict. A woman has to be careful when she travels to Middle Eastern countries as we are expected to dress and act according to local custom...very hard for an American woman to do!
