Ew, that is so gross. I do not eat out very often because of finances, not because of gross stuff like this, but it does make you wonder when you do eat out. I would just suggest being a pleasant customer so that the staff do not get mad at you.
Well that's not all that surprising, since it was a police officer. But it's still not right and that's disgusting. Makes me want to eat at home only as well.
Restaurants, more specifically, fast food chains are the sole places where I try to greet the workers there and do all the formalities because, well, they've already got a crap wage and their thoughts about how they aren't able to sustain their families, and if you startle the fire more... you will surely be punished by them, like this cop experienced. But let's be honest, this shouldn't be the main reason one ought to be joyful. If you are "nice" just because you are cautious of workers who spit on your food as a token of revenge, then you aren't that much of a nice person, ha, ha.
Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest; in fact my first thought after reading the OP was "I wonder if that worker was motivated by a hatred for cops stoked by the BLM movement".
I've worked in restaurants for years and have never seen anyone harm anyone's food no matter how bad the customer may treat everyone. But it could just be the area where I live... I will say, if you want fresh food, you probably don't want to eat at a restaurant since there's a good chance you're getting old food at certain times of the week.
I hate it when this happens. Just because some idiot does this kind of shit, a brand has to suffer because of it. As for these incidents, the persons found guilty of spitting in the food of their customers should serve some time in prison, at least 30 days, or at least 90 hours of working for free for the community.
I mostly make meals at home, but like JR I enjoy a good dinner out. The misses likes nicer places so I (HOPE) that doesn't happen to places I frequent. We make a point of tipping well and we know a lot of the staff. But I want to add a completely different point. This type of non-sense is pretty well known in the quick serve industry. Between demanding 15/hr and this, I see automation of their jobs coming faster then they expect it.
This is a common issue that you won't always know what your food includes. I prefer cooking myself since it is a lot cheaper than grabbing some unhealthy fast food from the restaurant downstairs.
Ugh. That's disgusting, and that's exactly why I don't eat out anymore and haven't for years. You can't trust people making your food anymore, and all it takes is one sick person to do that to you when you least expect it. It reminds me of that movie "Road Trip" where the kid orders toast but it doesn't have the butter or whatever he wanted on it, and the cook is like "ok, sure". He's real nice to him at the table, but then once he gets back to the kitchen, he licks the toast, puts it in his pants and walks aronud, and other things like that. The movie was supposed to be a comedy, but reality is that that type of sick stuff happens in restaurants all the time. Grossly enough, I know this to be true because I worked at a popular fried chicken restaurant in the US for a short period of time between my primary job when I was 19 turning 20. The manager I had was pissed off at someone he had to fire, and literally spit into the grease fryer in front of me and two other employees when we were cleaning and closing up. He was like: "OH, you guys didn't see that". I had family that used to visit me and order chicken or other food while I was working there, but I told them not to come in and order food anymore and then told them why. That's just what I saw in 6 months of working fast food too, so I'm sure there is a lot that goes on that we don't see which is just as bad or worse than that. It's best to just cook at home and make your own food instead of going out to eat anymore when you have to deal with that.
That's pretty gross! I always check my food if I go to a fast food restaurant. If I were a police officer, I would be extra diligent in checking my food.
