I have a number of friends from the Middle East who've told me some creepy tales about djinns but one thing that had me wondering whether djinns were spirit beings which are different from fallen angels and demons was the claim that they could reproduce. According to those who told me these tales, djinns can be bought but the person who buys them has to feed them regularly. But enough of that. I'd like to know what you think. Considering the fact that djinns can possess someone same way any evil spirit can, does it mean that djinns actually are demons?
I don't know too much about this subject but from what I have heard I would say that they are demons. I am going to have to read more up on this!
There is only good and evil powers and principalities. Angels, and fallen angels (demons and satan). So these djinns are demons. But what do you mean people can buy them and they have to feed them? Is that literal feeding? I don't understand what that means.

I think that they are similar in nature. There are good and evil elements at work in the world. Those both would be categorized under the evil elements. I wouldn't dabble in that area of trying to gain ownership over the like, in turn they may end up owning you.
I believe there is good and evil, and they exist to balance each other. I find people get too attached to labels, but I think there are bad spirits, as in those who aim to harm, but only if the person allows it. This is subconscious usually when people are ill, weak or vulnerable, which is why people are steered away from negative places and people. Many of these myths I feel have been passed down to make sure children behave, and it usually works.
I've never heard of that term to refer to demons before and I'm not sure if I believe that there are demons active in the world, but I suppose you could say that some people do the work of demons and stuff.
I've read about these jinns are related to demons in Islam but some shaytan jinns not normal ones. I am not sure about this and I heard about some jinns can be bought and kept as "pets". Something like Aladdin story. Anyway, you can read a lot about this online or in libraries and stories are interesting. Orhan Pamuk have these mentioned in his books. Evil jinns but good as well. So basically you have both sides in all religions. Angels and demons... It is basic stuff. The same thing with different name.

Djinns were here before man. Oh by the way there's also the Christian version of the earth's history. Before Adam, earth and all the other planets were inhabited by spirit beings who rebelled. Maybe djinns were the beings who lived on earth at that time?
Djinns are not necessarily Islamic, but middle eastern/Persian in origin. According to ancient Arabic and Persian legends, Djinns were beings that were superior to men in almost every aspect (but intelligence) and held supernatural powers like controlling the elements, possessing amazing healing and destructive powers, and some could even grant you whatever wish you wanted fulfilled! I would compare them to demigods of Western mythology. Not exactly in the realm of demons or gods and far more invested in day-to-day human affairs than either of them.
