This was a prank by Jimmy Kimmel as a crew asked people what they thought of Martin Luther King Jr endorsing Trump. As he has been dead for several decades it would be impossible for him to do, however as the responses seemed to support whatever he chose to do.

Now this was done on MLK day, a federal holiday celebrating his birth, so most Americans should have known who he was. Some of the answers are slightly worrying to say the least, as these people can vote.

Om gosh that is hilarious. These people are clueless and it is scary that they actually get to vote when they clearly have no clue what is going on around them. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. Thanks for sharing this!

Hahahaha! Maybe they were just overwhelmed with the camera and microphone in their faces. Lol. I just hope they do know MLK and are really just seized in the moment to even think about how the person in question is dead.:p

That just goes to show how some people are so ignorant of politics that they would vote on the basis of what they hear or read. Can you imagine people giving an opinion on a topic they do not know (that the subject person has been dead a long time ago). And although it can happen to one but happening to several means something. Truly, that interview is something to ponder on.

My opinion is that people will say anything to get their 5 minutes of fame. It reminds me of a time when I taught history...and as an opening exercise I asked the kids to write about their favorite historical figure. One of them wrote about Martin Luther King and said he liked him because he "freed the slaves." Sigh!

Meh, this was like a really bad Hollywood attempt to copy Mark Dice's interviews where he asks questions to people who really believe something that is ridiculous. Jimmy Kimmel and the others for this skit were clearly actors instead, and their attempt to try and make it seem like they weren't is not so hot by comparison. Someone would have to be really ignorant to believe those weren't actors for his show. Hollywood copies poorly lol

These type of videos are always good for a laugh. But, you have to remember several things. Whenever a camera and microphone are shoved in someone's face, people most people get nervous knowing they will be on TV, and some ham it up knowing they will be on TV, like the last guy. Also, the majority of people they ask realize it is a bogus question, but those don't make the editing cut. It wouldn't be funny. Also, he is commonly referred to in the US as Martin Luther King (MLK), so adding and emphasizing "Jr." at the end could have added to the moment, tricking some of them into thinking it may be MLK's son or something. Those people know MLK is dead, I'm sure. Most people also when asked about politics, try to say something, they don't want to seem like they don't know anything about politics. The lady talking about Malcom X having a house on Martha's Vineyard was a riot though!!!

Well, on one clip they did say it would be hard for him to vote as he has been deceased for 40 years and the man said, "I guess so,". The Malcom X reference goes to show how people do get mixed up with actors and actual characters. That's sad, but there are many that do.

I'm sure there are people who said, 'he's dead so how did he do that?' and they didn't include those. I think the point was that many Americans don't know who is who, and what someone really stands for.

Bizarre... and comical, but bizarre. :D I've assumed (maybe I give people too much credit for having even a smidgen of intelligence) that when the question was asked, people were thinking "Martin Luther King THE THIRD" ... he's also a Civil Rights leader like his daddy... and usually someone with the same name *is* a "junior"... so I can see how this happened.

Not very thrilled with Kimmel making it into this big thing without being clear... we have to believe that the people being filmed surely knew it wasn't about the MLK from the 60s!

But still... comical. and bizarre. hehe

When I read the title, I thought they were talking about his son, which still would have been bizaare.

    or to quote Ben Franklin
" Democracy sounds like a great idea, right up until you talk to the average voter´"
