This is what I want to see happen.

    1. Hillary gets indicted the day after accepting the nomination.

    2. Trump getting the Republican nomination, but the day after the election, the establishment announces they are running a third party candidate.

    or

2b. Trump gets robbed of the nomination during an open convention, and he decides to run as 3rd party candidate.

Can you imagine the chaos all around!

Even right now the race for the US presidency is heated and people are so excited. To think that the election is still in November but at this early the smear campaign had already started. What I see is a one-on-one duel between Donald Trump for the Republican and Hillary Clinton for the Democrats. I know there are still those who hope not to see those 2 but that's the status for now. And as the premise in this thread said, what happens if Hillary gets indicted after being nominated? That would be a big black eye but I guess Sanders would be happy.

The GOP has some serious issues. I'm sure that should Trump get the Republican nomination a sore loser might decide to run as an independent but even if no one does there are Republicans who've vowed they'll do whatever it takes to ensure Trump doesn't win the election. There's talk that a new party will be created should Trump get the nomination. Will a third party keep Trump and Hillary out of the White House? Let's wait and see how it all plays out.

Yeah its sad isn't it, and the really sad part is that it could all happen! I have never seen an election quite like this one. I can not believe in a country as vast as ours, that this is what we have to choose from. It is really kind of disgusting. Not kind of, I mean disgusting.

Some of these threats by some GOP members that they would try to undermine Trump's chances of winning the nomination is pure talk and nothing else.Trump is their best hope for the presidential race, and I know the Republicans are eager to once again form the government, so when push comes to shove they are most likely to close ranks and stand behind Mr Trump.

Well, all of this is pretty much unlikely to happen. However, if this ever takes a turn into the reality, heads would roll, right.

It would be definitely chaotic if these things happen. Although I must say, even right now, things are pretty much chaotic. With all the propaganda, smear campaigns and publicity stunts, it's no wonder Americans want to move to Canada already (Trivia: Apparently, Google searches for "how to move to Canada" has increased these past few weeks). All in all, let's hope for the best that whatever happens, the next president be able to handle America well. After all, we cannot really judge them without seeing firsthand their role as a president.

    P.S.

Here's an article about the "move to Canada" thing.

It has been one crazy election cycle this time around. In fact, it is easily the nuttiest in my lifetime. It is disturbing that those scenarios in the original post are at least somewhat possible.

I guess in one way it is exciting. But in another way, it's really, really depressing. How in the world in a country of over 300 million people, the front runners for each party are Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton? Two of the most disliked people in the United States. These are serious times, that call for serious leadership. We need a leader who is serious and has good character. Neither Trump or Clinton are what we need.

I can't argue with that. It is depressing on multiple levels. The Donald's and Hillary's negatives, albeit for totally different reasons, are enormous. And there is plenty of hate, division, and despair to go around. Beyond the fact it is yet another Obama "success story" that the country is in such a mess, it is telling as to where we are as a people. The electorate is pretty pissed and the sentiment is hardly surpising. Trump would have never been anything but a sideshow in the past. Sanders wouldn't haven't made it passed the first debate, let alone made a serious race against the Clintonistas. Lets face it, the Republic has seen better days.
