I feel like merging the two would be difficult, but if you found that correct balance.. that would be the perfect government. It would take time, but ensuring that everyone is fed, housed, and has a say is a utopia I would love to live in. This gets my vote for what government I would run!

There will always be a group in charge, and then someone who heads the group. i think it depends on the people there and to find some compromise between what they are used to and what they can adapt to. Whatever the case there will always be factions, and people like power, but don't always know how to use it.

Just look at the kings of the old testament like King David. They ran their territories under the authority and help of God Almighty. They prospered because of it whether the people in the country were godly or not. That's the way to run a country.

Well what you're proposing is too good to be true. First of all, for a state to come into being, you need the following: population, government, sovereignty and territory (other International Law practitioners would add a degree of civilization and recognition by the community of nations to these criteria). How will you populate this island? Are there inhabitants already? How many are they? I may choose a democratic government that operates under the principles of soft authoritarianism (similar to Singapore) and nation-building cannot be done singlehandedly. It's a group effort. Again, please refer to Singapore's political-economic history for elucidation.

Anyway, there are far too many loopholes in your proposition. There's no best way to rule a country. It's a process and the methods change with the changing times.

It is a fascinating question, and it reminded me of something that I have always looked back on. One particular influence that I had as a kid always told us that America was an experiment and not to forget that, and I never have. I am not sure if the context that he meant it was similar, but it applies, and certainly does to other countries as well. This is a fun little practice of playing that experiment.

We all look to the realities of each system and see that they are flawed, but of the ideal versions of all political systems, true democracy seems to me to be the most attractive. For everyone to have a say in the process of administration seems the fairest way of conducting the actions of a group. Perhaps then one step further could be made, in that the leadership of the group - those who communicate the outcomes of votes and instruct the group in how to conduct themselves a result of those votes - has to cycle between all members of the group, so that no one person becomes a standalone leader among the group.

I would still choose democracy. Everyone should be given the right to speak their minds. Everyone needs to contribute to the new civilization for progress to be at a rapid rate.

This is a somewhat difficult question. Democracy is not are sure fit for all situations. The best practice here would be to get an understanding of the various type of persons you would have to deal with, some people may have to be kept on a tight rein because they can be very disruptive, whilst others may be mostly cooperative and conforming. After a proper assessment. then you could decide which is best.

I'm a strong believer that a democracy is always the best choice in that type of situation. Everyone needs to have a say, or to at least feel as though they do, or the system will fall.

"I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery." — Thomas Jefferson, 1787

Freedom is messy. We don't always get it right. Sometimes we fail. But you know what, no other system has brought more growth, more prosperity, more hope, more technological advancement, and more possibilities than unbridled freedom. More often than not, when our country has faltered it is because we lost that concept and caved into one form of serfdom (right or left). And more times than not, when we reached our zenith it was when embraced our first love, freedom.

When Jefferson penned that, we were a tiny colony along the eastern seaboard with nothing but the hope of a new democracy. Less than two centuries later, our nation stretched from sea to sea, was the dominant economic power, and Americans walking on the face of the moon. That is the power and promise of FREEDOM!
