Hоwеvеr, Cаrsоn mаy hаvе just rеvеаlеd why hе аctuаlly thrеw his suppоrt bеhind Trump — аnd thе rеаsоn mаy аctuаlly bе illеgаl. Whilе bеing intеrviеwеd оn Nеwsmаx, Cаrsоn sееmеd tо imply thаt hе wаs оffеrеd аn “аdvisоry” pоsitiоn in Trump’s pоtеntiаl аdministrаtiоn in rеturn fоr аn еndоrsеmеnt. Оnе big prоblеm with thаt, thоugh. Оffеring а rоlе in еxchаngе fоr аn еndоrsеmеnt is аgаinst fеdеrаl lаw.
Did anyone see the transcripts of the radio interview with Carson? This is by far the weakest endorsement I have ever seen. I agree with him that probably 1v1 Trump is a nicer person and more sane. But in the interview Carson flat out said he is supporting Trump because Trump is the only one who can win the nomination. He said there were 2 o 3 other people he would have preferred to support, but they dropped out or can´t win. I think he saw that Cruz was the only one that could possibly beat Trump, but did not choose him because of what Cruz did in Iowa.
Ben Carson is an opportunist, and I'm mostly sure that he knew that after Obama's term, America would not want to trust another half-black or black American president, especially so soon. Not to say that his motives and interests are or are not selfish (because without knowing him personally, it would be folly to speculate on that), but Trump has very much turned his campaign into a cross between a reality TV show and a hiring fair for the politicians willing to break from their party and endorse, support, or accept a position with him. Should he lead and get approval for the decision from the higher-ups who select a President for the people after the smoke and mirrors of voting games are over, then Carson wants to be on the right side of that decision ahead of schedule. I'm not convinced that Carson was all about his message of support for Trump, but going from being a neurosurgeon to a political Apprentice, the last thing he wants to hear from the future president of the US is: 'You're fired!'
Considering he is a respected surgeon, surgeon general or a some position at the NIH makes the most sense. I would imagine he's on the long list of potential VP candidates. I'm not sure any of those positions is worth the stain of having to endorse Donald "The Apprentice" Trump.
I'm not saying it is true but changing loyalties is called horse trading - giving something in return of a promise or vice versa. And the leader in the survey is always beset with offers of support. Even the sponsorship and endorsements (mostly of religious groups) the one ahead in the survey is the favorite to be endorsed. With losing politicians, it is a given that their only choice is to give their support to an opponent and that opponent is one who's got the greatest chance to win.
I feel that all those who endorsed Trump have a vested interest, and interesting how Bush didn't endorse him as he has jobs he can go back to. The others don't. It's so obvious, that I am surprised that they have done it, and in effect they have committed political suicide, as how can their supporters offer their support now? Many will feel cheated and betrayed.
