Hey everybody! I've joined the forums because I have had a growing interest in my personal finance over the past year. My interests are starting to extend into trying to make my money work for me. That's why I have come here. I'd like to learn some of the ins and outs of investing. As a beginner I'm open to any tips or suggestions, especially on reading material.

Hello and welcome Blenly :) Lots of good folks here, and I've already learned a ton. I highly suggest you dodge the minefield that is the political/religious discussions here, as there are quite a lot of, um, hats, that are quite volatile and ill-mannered.

Welcome. Look through this thread in particular as numerous others new to the board have asked similar questions. You'll find enough answers to begin filling in your needs, and the responses may help to formulate more specific questions.

Try this one for example: http://www.bullmarketboard.com/threads/6537-How-to-Start

Heya blenly! Welcome to the forums! Great to know you're interested in personal finance I wish every kid out there was as conscious as you because saving starts at a young age. Hang out the cocktail lounge sometime and share your interests. :)

Welcome. Reading is definitely a good way to start and while I won't be recommending any specific books I think the first thing you should look into is making an investment plan for yourself. So grouping together your thoughts on what you have, what you can invest, what you are looking to accomplish by investing and the risks you are willing to take. When you have those down then it's a lot easier to start looking for information on what investments would fit your particular needs.
