I don't think that the owner of this gun got it illegally but he used it the wrong way and now he made sure that his whole family become statistics, to make matters worse on father's day.

My opinion is that guns should be controlled. Guns make their way into the hands of many people who have no business owning them. I am not sure how to go about putting more strict controls into place, but they should be there. It is especially important for parents to make sure they are locked up and the guns are not allowed to get into the hands of children.

I live in Europe at the moment so we are not allowed to own any weapons (especially not guns) and I think thats a good thing. Of course, if you really want to get your hands on a gun, I guess there a ways to get them (the ways the criminals get their guns). But these ways are way harder than just driving to a store and buy a one. I hear people saying they own guns to protect themselves, I think these people have a point..

But in al honesty: I don't really have the feeling I need a weapon to protect myself and I think that is because nobody here does. If I knew all my neighbors owned a gun, I would feel unprotected without owning a gun myself. But now I know almost nobody owns a weapon, I don't feel unprotected at all.

Hmmm.... I do believe I heard something about that. :) There's a book (I'm *not* recommending it because I know nothing about it except the title) that's called "While Europe Slept: How Radical Islam is Destroying the West from Within."

If I were a criminal (don't look at me like that, I'm not!) I think that finding a town or state that has outlawed guns would be a paradise. Anything I'd want would be ripe for the pickin' as they say, with no fear that a homeowner would shoot me to protect his or her family. Maybe they could lash me with a wet noodle as their protection instead.

The way I see it is, criminals are going to get guns either way. Why not let the good guys get in on it too? We need to protect ourselves after all.

The UK makes it so police on the street normally don't carry guns as they believe if people cant have them, street police shouldn't and if you look the gun crime rate, it is very low in the UK compared with other countries like the US. However, the papers and the media normally make big issues out of anything to do with guns to try and make it so the gun control is changed. The only reason i could see why gun control rules changing could be bad is the fact, what would come next after gun control, internet access being affected.

You're pretty much right. The way I see it, if we lessen up on the laws then the crime rates will go down. Same deal with Marijuana. Legalize.

I feel the moment they start controlling guns is the day they realize they can just take more away from our "freedom". More crimes will happen with illegal weapons and be harder to trace due to the illegal aspect of it. More people will end up with guns under the noses of the government. Don't they ever realize that the more they take away, the more that the public will just hide what they do have. It's pointless.

I don't agree with that Jay, I think it's something cultural that might take generations to change, but it has to start now, the end of the gun insanity in the US has to stop.
