The unexpected death of Prince has hit the headlines, on the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II and also a day after the news of Victoria Wood's death from cancer (a well known comedienne withe Julie Walters).

Apparently he was beginning his memoirs, but it does show that we can never predict when we will go.

You never know when you're going to go. Instead of letting the man rest in piece there will be hoopla around the autopsy. People have already speculated that he shouldn't have just died from a regular flue, and that he might have been hiding some other type of condition that was compromising his immune system.

Drugs. A tabloid made the claim [I haven't verified it's veracity] that Prince overdosed on drugs a week before he died. From other sources I learned that after getting treatment for the OD, when he left the hospital "he wasn't doing well." I wonder if the overdose in some way contributed to his demise. It doesn't matter though. May he rest in peace.

I'm saddened to hear about Prince's passing. I'm not old enough to have been a huge Prince fan, but it appears he really was a game changer for many reasons. I read that he fought music labels on the artistic direction of his music and influenced many generation of musicians.

Yes, it was shocking. The world lost a musical genius. I am sad about it. I mean his talent was on par with Michael Jackson's. It just seems like all the top talents of our time die way too soon. I think he was a complicated individual, who himself probably would not have predicted his own early demise. I thought the fact their was a rainbow over his home today was divinely inspired.

RIP Prince. Shame such a great man was taken from this world.

Whatever happened it is not of any importance now. As we always do we are going to make a circus out of it. Yes, he was a great musician, he might have used or abused some drugs, he might have even died from some flue like illness. It is so pointless to discuss about it and still everybody will do it and eve that sentence let him rest in peace doesn't mean a thing to anyone, especially to those who died. People can be a bunch of superstitious fools with no reasoning whatsoever. Let's say that we discover he died of AIDS and that he was gay all this time. What then? We are going to make an angry face and say, "Hmm, I wish he told us about this. We could just post some meaningless stuff about it then and now we would know what happened."

People are going to make a circus out of it sadly. However strange it might be that he was seemingly healthy, and passed at 57, we can only speculate it was other than what was said about the flu. Either way people need to stop trying to look for ways to taint the musical careers of the legends that pass away too soon. Yes maybe they had a problem, but does it make their music any less amazing?

While I wasn't a fan of his work, as I know only a few radio songs, I certainly appreciate and recognize his contributions to music. He's certainly influenced a lot of people, and touched a lot of fans with his music. And there's no denying that he was an incredibly talented musician who was very versatile and diverse in terms of the styles of music he played. The music world will definitely miss him sorely.

I wasn't a particularly big fan of his music, but I know a lot of people where, and you can see the type of influence his style gave the music industry.

Instead of speculating as to what he died of before it's been confirmed, I think it's better just to say RIP, and he will be a loss for his family and friends, and for music in general.
