My biggest security concern comes from muggers when an walking around after dark. They are very dangerous since their mode of attack is close and personal Once one gets into their hamlet, there are fewer security concerns since breakins and burglaries have drastically tapered unless someone gets to know that one is keeping wads of cash in his house and there are security breaches where one lives for them to take advantage of. What is the biggest security concern in your area?
I suppose break-ins would be my primary concern if we're talking about personal property but in general I'm concerned about international politics and where our civilization is heading. I always double-lock my doors and if I had the money I'd set up CCTV cameras everywhere.
On a national scale then terrorism us right up hmthere as a concern, especially these days and I'm from the UK so we're being constantly told we're expecting an attack anytime. Locally it's probably the same as most other peoples worries. Break ins, and street robberies. These are crimes that are getting more common these days, and I think it will get worse before it gets better aswell.
On a personal scale... none really. Of course you need to keep your eyes open and keep yourself out of harms way but here the amount of crimes is very low... same for the rest of Europe really though I have been in some places where I thought that it's entirely possible that something might happen. Overall, keep your eyes open but don't worry about it too much.
My pressing security concern has to be terrorism. The bastards are everywhere. They target anyone as long as you aren't a Muslim. But it doesn't worry me that much as there are no Muslims in the town I live. As for burglaries and the like, it's been a while since I heard of an incident that would alarm me.
Home invasion, or as we call it here in the UK, burglary, is easily the most likely security threat I face on a day-to-day basis. But I've got a pretty good set-up at home that should prevent all but the most intrepid potential burglar from getting in. Sadly, we're not allowed to own firearms here for protection, so prevention is all really we're able to prepare for.
I agree with you, muggers are one of my biggest fears when it comes to security. I actually was assaulted about two months ago, it was a terrible experience, and I still am scared of going out and take the subway... but you know, those things happen every day, it's amost impossible to remain hidden all the time... But it's still scary.
This depends on a country and people. I really have no concerns about security and it is due to lack of money to live a normal life, the fact that I can handle people very well, physically or mentally, I don't have any valuable stuff around because I don't even have a real job. It is not a good country, Serbia, for thieves or muggers. Even for bullies. If a bully went ahead to bully me he would surely have some bandage around his head. I am not saying I wouldn't but in Serbia you don't have too many people who will stay on the ground when hit.
Were all afraid of something. Mine would be when I'm riding public transit in Las Vegas. I've ran into some unsavory characters. Some of which seem like they might be high out their gourd. I always carry some form of protection, and I'm thinking about getting my concealed carry license.
It still amazes me the mentality Americans have with guns. Here in the UK we're not allowed firearms only in the most specific cases, as in we can't just go and buy one from the local store like you can. I think that's a good thing though personally, as if we could, I'd have to change my opinions on what my most feared security threat is, and it would be terrorism first, followed by anybody else walking round with a gun.
