I think a lot of Americans have lost faith a long time ago but now that we have better ways to communicate, we see how bad the government is more easily. I mean, you could never simply search and find who is paying off who in a few seconds anytime in the past! One can only help that the people do something about it! It seems like there are still two many people supporting the big two parties.

Many Americans have lost faith in our government. I am one of them in some form or another. I may just be disappointed instead of faithless in our political process. I believe our government needs a serious wake-up call. They need to know the people are losing faith in the system and, begin working to make it better before it's too late.

That's a good point... I think it's more like disappointment than losing faith for a lot of people. I say that because if we get some officials in office who genuinely care about the *people* they're serving more than themselves, appearances, and/or partisanship, I think the faith in government would be restored... I think it's maybe just misplaced at the moment and not actually lost. Or at least I hope so!

Americans have lost faith in both sides of the governments, the country seems to be falling deep into crisis, the economy is not getting any better, and the country has been undergoing this for a long time, no wonder they have lost faith on both sides of the government.

LOL, I want to ask, who has faith in any government currently? People have already seen what governments and politicians do, and we only see our income to decrease and the prices to rise, so what can we expect really?

It's not surprising that Americans are not as confidant in the government as they used to be; nowadays the political news is dominated by politicians behaving like bickering four year olds, if that isn't enough to make you reflect on the state the government is these days, I don't know what is. We have officials divided over important issues that need immediate action, and with no one willing to make compromises.

It's not news for anyone, man. We've lost confidence in everyone and everything since, well, our birth.

Not even a surprise. The American government has failed it's citizens many, many times, and I personally have lost confidence in them.

The overall perception and trust for the gov't has declined because of the lack of cooperation between the presidency and the congress. It is no wonder that the highs and lows on the chart shown directly correlate between the two. The fact that the congress rating is much lower shows that most people have less confidence and faith in the congress and the president.

Many realize that the president is powerless to do anything unless he can get the congress to cooperate with him (which we see is not possible). I am independent, so I am not in favor of any one party over the other, but the ratings speak for themselves.
