On April 9, a student was escorted off a plane for having a conversation in Arabic. The student says he'd been talking to his uncle. What they were talking about? Attending a Ban Ki Moon speech.

He was then escorted off the plane and informed that he couldn't get back on. Islamophobia . . .

If it went the way he described, then it is pretty clear cut discrimination. I'd like to hear Southwest's side of the story. A lot of these stories tell one side and then we find out later the person was actually acting unruly and the airline had the right to remove them from the plane.

IF what he said is true (I have yet to see someone say "I was throw out because I was acting like an arse", it's easier to say "I was thrown out since they are racist!") then that's definitely a mistake on the airlines part. But there are always two sides to these stories.

I actually watched this on the news. A female flight attendant that speaks Arabic said that she heard him say threatening things. I guess it's better to be cautious then to take off on the flight not knowing what the guy is really up to. Especially if she was accurate in interpreting what he was saying.

I'm sure that it's better safe than sorry, and really people should know better than to have angry conversations in public. I find that the younger generation don't think about this in general and while it may have been a harmless personal call in the end, we know that terrorists do use this kind of scenario as a cover. Either way drawing attention to yourself was not a bright move.

That's kinda crazy. However, he could sue the plane staff and the company whose flight it was.

Well, I just read the comments and as another user said, all stories have two different sides. Okay, it's racist that this kid was escorted by security just because he was talking in other language, and okay, it would be kind of scary or at least for me if I see a person on my plane taking aggressively in Arabic... But the good think here is that no one was hurted.

You can't sue an airline because they have the right to remove any passenger for whatever reason they deem necessary.

Read the small print on tickets, you buy the right to be on the aircraft, but they reserve the right to remove you or put you on another flight.

I'm not entirely convinced that's exactly how the situation went down either to be honest, and I'd say there was more to it than him just saying inshallah and then him bring dragged off the plane.

These days there's a lot of stories in the media regarding immigration, refugees, Muslims, terrorism...And not all of it is to be believed.

Oh my God. The shallow Americans. Way to go guys. Democracy in its best. I am just curious if they ever tried to speak with that student and have everything checked. You cannot speak your own language in there. Amazing. That phrase is probably just an ordinary phrase that they use everyday like some American English phrases. See you later, peace out, screw you guys I'm going home :) This is just a clean showcase of small minded nation.
