Recommended. (I designed a multiple page spreadsheet to track my holdings et al; one page automatically sorts holdings into the 10 GICS sectors, summing dollar amounts and a percentage distribution. Interesting, and gives me information to consider in the broker-provided quarterly market reviews.)
Fidelity's regular market and portfolio analysis for customers includes discussions at the sector level, and counseling on balancing portfolios. The advice helped me to mitigate the 1Q2016 damage and move money into better areas. Sectors are not gospel, but just another piece of information to understand and appreciate what I read.
