I don't think Buffett sold Walmart because he believes it's going out of business. He typically buys when he sees value, and sells when he no longer sees such, which is a huge stretch from believing they will go out of business anytime soon. Anyhow, I don't always agree and follow 100% with everything Buffett does - he's right most of the time, but even he occasionally isn't always 100%. He just bought into some airline stocks, which is something he previously wouldn't touch. It may be that these will turn out to do very well for him, but I still do not care to invest in airlines myself - so I will pass. I don't see WMT going out of business anytime soon. And I have sold most of the WMT I bought a year ago (in the ~ $56-58 range) anyway... plus it's only one of about 1000 holdings I have in my portfolios anyhow - so even if it DID go out of business, its impact on me would be minimal - I'm big on diversification.
Well neither do I think its going out of business, but it certainly is not going to grow anymore. There is not much time left before when it goes out of the dividend aristocrats list.
They beat their earnings estimate, and they are building up their online presence. I agree that at their size they have not been a "growth" company for a long time, but I think they'll be fine. Like any top company that wants to stay a top company, they are looking forward and looking for ways to improve. They sell groceries, drugs, home & gardening, sporting goods, entertainment, clothing, haircuts, auto maintenance and repair, etc CHEAPLY all under one roof - and many of those things cannot be purchased online. I have one practically walking distance from my home in a pretty affluent area, and the only reason I only go there 1-2 times a month instead of 1-2 times a week is because the store and the parking lot are too crowded. I go there when I do to get certain specific things (mainly perishables) that I cannot find elsewhere, and I usually end up buying other things on the cheap while I'm there that would cost me more at the other retail outlets I go to more often. And there are several other super centers within a 10-12 mile radius of my home that all do well. I bought this stock last year when they oversold and had been beaten down for a while, and they came roaring back pretty good. And I have sold most of it in the $70-75 range. If they fall hard again, I will probably buy more.
I am agree with @ScooterBrandon because december month is full of shopping and enjoyment. many peoples. I am suggest AMZN stock is also good to buy.

Do you have your favourite stocks JR? Or do you tend to look at them as boxes so there are no emotional attachments?
