We've had some great debates here at the forum. And some heated debates ;) but I think I have a topic that we'll all agree on... what's with all the baby deaths from being left in hot cars for hours?!

I mean really! I can see forgetting your child is in the car and maybe getting as far as your office desk before remembering... but 8 hours? 10 hours? One I saw was *overnight?!* I mean you didn't realize your 2 year old was missing when you went to tuck them in?!

How many of the cases do you think are accidents vs. copycats doing it on purpose? That's almost too dark to think about, but it looks as if at least one of them was just that. :(

They say that the father actually went back to the car at lunch. The baby was no doubt dead by then. Talk about a calloused animal that "father" is!

Hopefully he gets the death penalty. Last I heard they also were gathering evidence to charge the mother as well.

Oh my yes... there's so much coming out. They both allegedly did computer searches on how long it takes for animals and children to die in hot cars. There was a computer search on families living childless.

Oh, and the best... the [alleged] (do I know how to cover my disgust or what?!) monster was sexting with teen girls while his baby was dying. Yeah, let's see who says there shouldn't be a death penalty for this.

He looks very "strange" to me. Like maybe he's a little mentally disabled or something.

Wow he went to the car and ate lunch with the dead baby sitting there? This is crazy.

There are many weird news out there. I have to call them weird because nobody in their right mind will do half the things some people are doing now. Many people are concerned with their jobs, appearance, how they are looked upon in society and even their health, but when it comes to their family, husbands or wives and children, it is a different story. There is no excuse to leave your baby alone in a car or anywhere else for that matter, no matter how much you have on your mind.

The trial should be interesting to say the least. In addition to the computer searches on how long it takes someone to die in a hot car and childless lifestyle, there was (all in the public record now) also a search on surviving in prison.

Oh, and while the $2k insurance policy they had on the baby is normal in a lot of families, they'd also taken out a $25k policy on the baby. :(

Sometimes "innocent until proven guilty" seems rather ridiculous especially now with the technology to track what a person's been doing and searching for. Once in a while a crime comes along where "guilty until proven innocent" would make more sense.

I believe this is such a cruel incident, someone can not forget their brief case, but yet they can forget their own child in the car for hours, that is a very scary type of death to have to go threw, they should hike the penalty for this offense.

Yes... and it's not just that one case. It's been happening often (relatively speaking because even once is too often.)

I've heard of three cases (all with the children dying) in the past week. Before this one we're discussing, there was another case a few days before. That's why some of it seems as if it may be copycat incidents, and how totally sick is that?

I think it takes a certain kind of evil to KNOWINGLY leave your child, your own flesh and blood, in a hot vehicle for hours. I have actually tested this myself, by sitting in a hot car with the windows rolled up for an hour, seeing how much I could take. Obviously, I was sweating profusely by the end. I was inspired by a video I saw on YouTube, where a man also did this, and in the video, he was profusely sweating and he could barely even stand it. I can only imagine that a child in this situation would have a very tortuous death, and that just saddens me to even think of. :(
