    Well.

This isn't going to be a straight up attack on a small subset of radical atheists or anything.

    Really really agree!

Also, even though this is the forum's lounge, I'm not sure if this thread was really necessarily. But each individual is free to express his opinion, right? :)

Neil Degrasse Tyson once said that if we could measure intelligence on a scale, the higher up the scale (the higher intelligence), you would see less and less religious people. He said this because, with greater intelligence comes a greater need of evidence. This is the only reason that lower intelligence often is right in line with religious belief.

He then said this.. The fact you need to focus on is that when you are at the top of the scale, the number is not 0. When comparing the brightest minds in the world, there is a small percentage of religious people in the mix. so, you need to wonder why that is. Is it that there is some part of us that does not allow our entire species to let go of religion?

There is no evidence to prove any religion is accurate AND there is no evidence to disprove whether or not any religion is accurate.

so to criticize anyones belief is nothing more then "disrespect".

I need to add this. I dont like the word "belief" when it comes to religion. Its not possible to believe in the unknown. It's "trust" not belief. But, that is yet another example of how humanity is taking the meaning from the words in our vocabulary.

Despite what you may have said, this post seems largely based on the idea of strawmen.

Taking a lot of things out of context much? It's one thing to have a different view, it's quite another to take a whole group of people and generalize everything about them. I could write a book on the irony of Catholicism but it would cause a holy mother of a freakout, pun intended. I don't know where you get a lot of your information but it sure doesn't apply to me.

I don't believe in God, and probably won't unless there is concrete evidence from somewhere other than the Bible or a religious text that he exists. However, I still live a good, and helpful life. Just because you don't live a religious life doesn't allow you to be mean or hateful to your fellow man.

If you search "The Irony of Atheism" on Google the first result you get is a blog post with this exact text word by word so this is clearly just a copy/paste job but I'm still not sure why he would post this kind of stuff here, if people are interested they can just Google it, it's the first result!

I think posts like these are boring. it's long and it doesn't count for me. Are we supposed to discuss about atheism? Anyway atheists non believers and they will never ever believe that God exists, unless a spiritual change intervenes in their life, It's a personal decision and no matter how hard you try to convince them they will still have their doubts.

Hahaha! You really got me on that one. I was reading that whole post when I got halfway through and was like, hey wait a minute, I'm on a stock forum so where does this even apply. That was an awesome answer addition to this post. Might have to save that picture so I can bomb someone with it if I ever get the chance.
