I'll be sure to tell you what happens when I get my first BIG paycheck! As for normal paycheck, I proceeded to spend it all buying alcohol for me and my friends. Financially it was a stupid decision (I should have asked them to chip in) but I felt proud of myself for being able to generate that money and wanted to have some fun. Financially stupid, but we had a blast.
Haven't gotten 1 yet...I mean, 1 that I can actually spend yet. Anything big I got so far I gave for university fees....so didn't really feel like the money was even mine for any period of time....The first even "something" check that I felt I could spend anything out of, was just a little over 300$....and also went away fast because I needed the regular winter stuff fast before it gets cold(jacket, boots, etc.). Usually I have the habit of buying something symbolic when I get first check for new job- like a pair of earrings or a day dress.
When I started to receive regular checks I saved them and I bought a house, since than I've been always paying it, no check big enough ever came for me to pay it all. Yet!
As a kid my first big cheque was $100 from my paper route for the month. I bought a bunch of candy, some ninja turtles, and banked the rest. $100 went a long way for an 8 year old kid in the 90's! As an adult I remember my first big cheque and it all went to the bank. Saved a few of those big cheques over the years and now I am travelling the world and having some fun.
I remember when i got my first check it was like 900 bucks. I bought me and all my siblings pizza and taco bell for months, and blew it all on basketball hoops and stuff i ordered off the internet that i never wore. lol smh
I also remember my first pay check, but it wasn't that big lol. I was still living with my parents so I was saving for my house that I bought after 6 months.
Just a paycheck, I was really young when I first got it and the first thing I did was buy a used guitar and an amp... and pretty crappy ones at that. I still have them and if I ever have children I'll pass it on to them so they know how it feels to play on such shitty equipment.
That's crazy! I guess you lived with your parents and didn't have any expenses? How did it work out? Lost it all?
