Marijuana is one thing, but you'd have a very hard time convincing me that it's a good idea to make highly dangerous, destructive, and unpredictable drugs like crack, crank, smack, and angel dust legal. I've had parolees tell me themselves that the one thing that keeps them from going back to their hard drug of choice is that it's illegal, and to go back to the drug would violate their parole and put them back in the pen.

I do not necessarily think that drugs such as crack cocaine, methamphetamine, etc. should be legalized, but what I DO think that should be done is easier access to clean paraphernalia and information about the drugs and managing an addiction.

If someone's going to inject heroin, they might as well be using clean, unshared needles. This would without a doubt cut down on diseases like HIV being trasmitted by people sharing needles. If everyone had their own needles, they wouldn't need a reason to share. This is just my two cents.

The other states should take the same way, in my opinion. But they make more money from frauding people to give money on expensive but useless cancer treatments that give us a Placebo effect, and less from giving them the cure they've sought for such a long time. It's sad but true. We won't see too many changes in the near future.

At 12:01 Thursday morning, marijuana possession was officially decriminalized in Washington, D.C. Possession of up to an ounce of marijuana will now result in only a $25 fine and its confiscation. Previously, an arrest for small amounts of marijuana could have resulted in large fines, a criminal record, and even months in jail.

Not only will possession result in just a small fine, but the law also prohibits police officers from using the smell of marijuana as a pretext for conducting a search. D.C. now has one of the most progressive marijuana laws in the country.

As a right-wing conservative, I have always been against the use of marijuana personally, but after seeing the effects of 6 months of legalization in Colorado, I am having an "I told you so" moment. I have come to see marijuana as "lethal" so-to-say (not saying that it is lethal, perhaps potency would be a better descriptor) as alcohol.

I live in the other legal state and it seems as though crime is up here. Not drug related crime, butt violent crime. I will have to look at the statistics to see how we are trending.

Of course they do. It's sad that these companies and government agencies can't see the forest for all the ball bats they are using to beat the money out of the economy. I'll be frank, I do not use cannabis for personal reasons but if someone wants to smoke a spliff then I'm A-OK with them doing so. I much prefer to be around people who are stoned than I had be around drunks.

This proves everything i have been trying to tell people. It would be interesting to see how it will play out if all states get on board. Weed is sometimes a good thing especially when its legal, even though i don't smoke.

This is actually great news to hear that legalizing marijuana has lead to positive results. Whether to legalize marijuana or not has been an ongoing debate that has not received a conclusive answer. This is a very positive outcome; let us look forward to even better results.

Wow, indeed, nothing like legalizing all crimes so that the crime rate comes down? If we start dealing drugs money will come in too, awesome...
