When Donald Trump became president of the USA it was through gritted teeth that he agreed to place his business interests in an arm’s-length trust over which he would have no influence. This included the profits from a $250 million plus real estate portfolio which until he became president was the focus of his expertise. Over the last few weeks the USA Today program has been investigating Donald Trump’s real estate assets and found some potentially disturbing developments.

    Limited liability companies

There is nothing illegal or immoral in using limited liability companies to acquire assets. In effect these companies allow individuals to acquire asset without legally being obliged to reveal their identity. In a world where money-laundering and similar issues have been at the centre of the financial sector, it does make you wonder why such arrangements are still on the table. However, as they stand today limited liability companies are perfectly legal and above board.

In politics you need to be seen as whiter than white - why does Donald Trump court so much controversy when he doesn't need to. Is he just trying to fight the establishment? Bizarre!

Constitutionally speaking, the president and vice president of the US are exempt from certain rules that all other politicians are subject to regarding things such as conflicts of interest, private holdings, etc.

Further, it is often difficult for someone to liquidate large, highly illiquid holdings.

It used to be that politicians needed to be whiter than white and to avoid controversy. But that no longer seems to be the case.

Hillary Clinton was even worse than Trump in terms of general shadiness, being allegedly involved in various criminal activities, being a potential threat to national security, etc.

And the Obama admin were no saints either - using the IRS to target political adversaries, Fast & Furious, ramming through a fraudulent healthcare act, the Iran nuke deal, his obsessions with "social justice" and "social engineering", etc.

I do wish that Trump would stop with so many dumb tweets and statements, and that his admin would get its act together and get organized.

This whole Trump "Russia collusion" thing is just politics. If you want Russia collusion, look to the Clinton Foundation and "Uranium 1", or Obama's hot mic incident with the Russian president about 5 years ago.

Seriously think Trump is suffering from the early stages of dementia at this point in time. However, he has always been a drama king who loves/needs/craves attention and stirring up controversy via the media has always been his way. One of his sickest stunts was taking out a full page in NY paper to play judge/jury and call for the death penalty for the central park 5 gang and he never even offered an apology after DNA proved their innocence.

Donald Trump has a short memory when it comes to his mistakes but a long memory when it comes to those who crossed him. Is he US presidential material? Probably the best of a bad bunch although full of hot air - will he ever pass any of his major policy promises?

He is even getting involved in the Scottish referendum debate!

Why does a US president feel the need to live on Twitter? Very unprofessional.

Stop him if you can! Initially Donald Trump was a breath of fresh air to the political scene but now I think he is becoming something of a joke?

lol no one seems capable of stopping him! And agree that he was initially like a breath of fresh air and i believed this country needed a business person BUT that changed very quickly with all the blatant lies he was spewing during his campaign - ironic that what he predicted for Clinton has become his own fate as far as the election scandal clouding her and this country. etc
