The reason for them is that criminals have them, so you need equal fire power. Why would you want criminals to have more ammo and better guns than innocent civilians? You understand that banning innocent people from having something won't affect crime? They are criminals, they do things that are illegal. Why do you think make a certain mag or firearm illegal will stop them from having it? The ones they already have are already illegal.

The way to go is not giving weapons to the civilians, but to take them away from criminals, more guns will just mean more deaths and pain.

Gun control is not a plan that will have the intended outcome. The only ones that will give up their guns are law-abiding citizens. The criminals will be the only ones left armed. There are too many gun-loving Americans to stop this. It is unconstitutional to stop this American right.

    How will you do that?

The only way I see to realistically disarm most criminals is to put as many of them away for good as possible. They should use RICO to go after all the street gangs the way they went after the Mafia. But it certainly won't happen under this AG.

I have a feeling they wouldn't respond to a "turn in your weapons and we'll give you an ice cream cone" festival. I'm afraid this wouldn't work. Criminals want and need their guns. I can't see them ever just handing them over because someone "in authority" said to hand them over.

If there was a "okay, bad guys, line up and hand over your guns" maybe a handful of them would do it to get a plea bargain for a past crime or something... but it's not realistic to think criminals will turn their guns over.

Have a SWAT team storm every house in the country to forcibly take the guns? Way too expensive and totally unrealistic again. Besides, they'd just replace them with illegal firearms.

Criminals would *NOT* ever turn their guns in... so taking them from people who want to protect their family and property simply makes zero sense to me.

Yes, I am pretty sure no one wants to surrender their guns, but it's something cultural, in my country no one, but no one except policeman - some of them - carry guns, why do you carry in the US for example?

How exactly do you plan to take guns from criminals? I'll let you go around door to door and try to confiscate them.

I definitely believe in gun control and wish we'd enact stricter laws.

I am tired of reading news stories about innocent children being shot at school. Most of the perpetrators were not seasoned criminals, but mentally ill males who might not have access to a gun if a background check were required. The idea that only thugs on the street are killing each other with guns is ridiculous. Also, there's a lot of accidental shootings in homes.

So, I don't know why a person feels safer with a gun other than he (or she) is paranoid or living wrong. (Yes, I said it!) I think we have to reduce the easy access people have to guns and then we'll all be much safer.

See here's the thing... if a person doesn't want a gun, they won't buy one. I personally hate guns and would not have one anywhere near my family. I've always hated guns. *BUT* ... be that as it may, we have a constitutional right to bear arms.

So if this right is taken away, aren't you scared of what they'll try to take next? Wouldn't it be frightening if they, after being allowed to mess with the 2nd amendment, try to mess with the 1st as well? (freedom of religion, speech, press, and assembly)

Starting to disregard the Bill of Rights could be a very slippery slope from which there isn't a return. We have the "right" to own cars, too, but you can't just make cars illegal because some drunk or mentally disturbed person decides to run into a gathered crowd and kills people. Suddenly that car turned into a weapon, too... and they're a LOT easier to buy than guns. "They" will always find a way.

Well we all cannot go and knock on the doors of the people and force them to hand over their firearms. Who knows some of the peoples' doors you knock down can also be legal citizens having legal registration for those weapons.
