Donald Trump's visit to Asia seems to be very up and down - one day he is making friends and the next he is upsetting the same people he made friends with the day before! Is he helping or hindering US trade in the Far East?
While there is nothing wrong in Donald Trump standing up for the USA and US citizens, personally I think he is a liability when it comes to "helping" with trade deals. He seems to open his mouth before he thinks
I do wish he'd not say and tweet some of the things he does, and I've had concerns about him ever since he declared his candidacy a couple of years ago. But I'm glad he's president instead of Hillary or Bernie, and I like the general direction the country has been moving in overall. I've really been unhappy with congress over the years, and expected much more from them since Trump became POTUS. It seems as though much of congress is all the same whether they are democrat or republican. I expect democrats to act like democrats and be pro big govt and to have other leftist agendas. But I am furious when republicans go along with this all and act like democrats when the republicans are the party in power. I am hoping to see some new blood come into the republican congressional ranks in the coming years - time to clean house.
I agree with what you say JR from across the pond. I would like to know who is in charge of his Twitter account as surely it cant all be him? As in the UK we expect Labour to be on the left and the Conservatives to be on the right but this is not always the case - the situation seems to be a little worse in the US where there is a lot of anti-Trump feeling. The left need to stay left and the right on the right - otherwise it all becomes very very muddled in my view.
A politician should at the least act in ways consistent with what they campaigned on. We have RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) in congress who campaigned relentlessly on repealing the Affordable Care Act, for instance who voted against a repeal once we got a president in office who would actually sign the bill into law. We have a problem with people who desperately want the power and eventual wealth they will have access to as a politician, who have views which align them with our democrat party, but who run as republicans because they will not be elected in their states as democrats. So they basically pretend to be republican, but once they get into office they will act as democrats whenever they think they can get away with it. Our population is still largely conservative and pro-American for the most part, but our universities, media, and entertainment industries are very left-leaning, and are shaping the views of many into people who want "change" - Barack Obama is a great example. The Clintons are an example of politicians with no real ideology, not even any morals, values, or principles - they were all about using the government and political power to make themselves and their cronies as wealthy as possible. They were 100% for sale to the highest bidder, and have broken virtually every law and rule in the book to get and keep power and wealth.
I totally agree JR - true and honest politicians can be very difficult to find. If you campaign on a left ticket then support left leaning policies and the same for right leaning politicians. The cosy relationship between politicians and business is wrong in my view. Votes and policies should not be for sale to the highest bidder but we all know that money talks.
imo, this man has some serious issues & he is taking us backwards not forward. We need someone with integrity in office - not a "baby" that changes his stories quicker than the wind... Not to mention, the "Me too" movement means nothing as long as he remains in office & he too should pay the price for his abuse of women - it's not OK to grab our p...y just because your famous, period.
