I have owned both for some months now - have been buying them on dips. Have a much larger position in HAS. I am now in the green in both positions. Am holding them for the moment.
I think the combined group would make a great fit. On competition terms, with Amazon dominating the online market, I doubt there would be any regulatory hurdles. Maybe the merged group would be a credible challenger to Amazon in the toy sector?
Looks like something might be happening here - the shares are showing no sign of a sell off into strength which indicates underlying demand to me.
Are we on the verge or a new era in mergers and acquisitions? There seems to be a lot of activity surrounding some household names.
Worth looking at Mattel as one to tuck away - if Hasbro has done its homework and feels it would make a good fit then I cant help but think they will be back at some stage.
I don’t think that this takeover speculation will go away now the cat is out of the bag. Surely it is just a matter of time before somebody mops up Mattel?
