The celebs are starting to turn against SnapChat - not sure if this is the time to sell or buy https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/22/...e-jenner-tweet-snapchat-1-billion-market-loss In all seriousness these celebs have big followings of gullible fans - might this be the start of a reduction in actviity amongst the younger generation?
So, the celebs are starting to turn against Snapchat? Many of them may have ulterior motives and interests in similar services but we know Snapchat will not be profitable are some time to come and any slowdown in activity and user growth could be catastrophic. I also note there is an online campaign to wind back to the old style Snapchat and lose the recent “update”. Not a good sign if your users are unhappy with your improvements!
Bad feedback about new changes, celebs starting to look elsewhere, it does not look too good for SnapChat just now. The company is trying to grow but it will do well to maintain a steady ship in the short term. How much cash does the company have in the bank? What is the cash burn per year?
Will Snap be thrown under the bus with the likes of FB with all of the bad press just now? Or will investors see that FB has enough on its hands just now and will not be a major challenger to Snap in the short term? Personally I think all social media type companies will come under greater and greater scrutiny.
I see the share price is holding up surprisingly well consider that is happening elsewhere in the social media sector - surely it is not just FB which has been mining info from members?
Perhaps there is hope that Facebook will take its eye off the ball and leave the field clear for companies such as Snapchat which offer a service not natural to Facebook?
Is the share price starting to weaken? Looks like it is headed downwards in the short term - the resistance points seem too strong and the support level just below the share price seems weak to me. All in all, one to leave at the moment.
The shares are currently in limbo and there is no obvious direction in the short to medium term. Will the company become a takeover target? Will the company quietly start to rebuilds its reputation and increase current member activity numbers? The next set of figures/trading statement should give us a little more insight into what is happening behind the scenes.
The shares have been surprisingly resilient despite all kinds of turmoil in the social media market. Is someone stake building? Will results be better than expected?
While all social media companies are coming under greater scrutiny, I think those like SnapChat that still dont make a profit will find it harder and harder to raise the additional funding needed to keep them going until they "reach profitability".
