While the likes of George Soros and Warren Buffett have been around for many years, are there any new investment gurus we should be watching?
Not sure about any new gurus but as Warren Buffet seems able to move with the times (his aversion to tech stocks and then change in strategy is a perfect example) I think there is still some mileage in following the "old boys".
Elon Musk tends to get most things right when it comes to investment trends but he seems to have been over doing it of late with massive hours and workload at Tesla. Maybe he needs a break - the man is a genius but the human mind and body can only take so much.
Just been thinking, watch what Elon Musk does in the short to medium term - as Arnie once said "I will be back". He may have taken a standing 8 count on the ropes but write him off at your own risk
I have just been thinking, is the old style idea of an investment guru valid anymore? When you consider the technology and the teams the likes of Warren Buffet have behind them now, are they not just figure heads in the modern era?
Warren Buffet often has nuggets of "general advice". But Buffet is not a stock picker. His BH holding companies buys good companies and tries to maximize them. I think the folks to watch are hedge fund managers.
Interesting comment, should we look at gurus as those who recommend specific stocks or those with a top-down approach which is more general in nature? You are quite right, Warren Buffett does have this type of top-down approach and his colleagues are probably more likely to pick the individual stocks which fit in with his top-down investment strategy.
Interesting call, I have only ever followed stock pickers rather than those with a top down approach. Who do you follow? I didnt agree with Warren Buffets buying Apple shares but they have bounced recently and are just a whisker from their all time high.
An interesting list of books by so-called investment gurus:- https://www.forbes.com/sites/gurufo...t-of-books-written-by-the-gurus/#19669085a932
