DT is certainly ruffling a few feathers with his trade wars! Surely he needs to calm down now - he has made his point - and start to negotiate? Markets are getting concerned.
According to some news sources, Trade War has more to do with "Made in China 2025" than anything else & the USA is very concerned about not being "top dog" and is using trade war as a way to try to prevent what was already set in motion... Personally, as someone looking from the outside in, I dont see why the US should be forced to run a trade deficit with the vast majority of its trading partners. DT is only pushing high tariffs today so he can negotiate a smaller rise tomorrow and all parties can sell this as a win. Watch this space
We will only know how successful this strategy has been once the inevitable happens and US trade deals have been rewritten. Trump is aiming high with tariffs so that he can agree a lower figure - he aint no fool!
I see that Donald Trump is ramping upping the pressure on China with talk of $500 billion worth of goods to be hit with increased tariffs. He will continue to ramp up the pressure until the Chinese government give in and begin negotiating.
It is safe to say this tariff war is going to get messy! The US obviously has the power and the resources to get through this choppy period but some countries could see their economies decimated. Not sure what the long-term benefits an array of weak worldwide economies would bring - if indeed that is what Donald Trump is trying to do.
Add an attack on NATO to the list! Donald Trump is certainly going to town in his pursuit of a better deal for the US on trade and organisations which have depended on US funding for years. What next?
Is DT's pursuit of better trade deals in danger of getting out of control. Maybe the US can take on one country at a time but every country around the world is now reacting with increased tariffs on US goods. Is this policy going to back fire?

Is there not an argument that the US has been running trade deficits with the vast majority of its trading partners far too long? Surely by importing more goods and services than it exports this is potentially impacting the size of the US economy and job opportunities? In reality it is not really that straightforward but from a distance, are we really all saying that Donald Trump is totally wrong here?
