What about confirmation of delivery? Could people simply say they didn't receive their package in order to not pay it? Assuming everything is done automatically, even if the drone is filming you, you can just put on a mask and grab the item when it's dropped off and claim it wasn't you... This seems like it has too many loopholes.
This is already something that people do, so it's not like it's going to suddenly happen if they do it by drone. Hell, people make a lot of money off of offering services like this, where they'll phone up Amazon and get you your money back.
Amazon drones sounds like a page ripped out of the fourth Transformers movie. If saw one of those things I use it for target practice so they would not come back to my house.
The drones won't have any effect at first. Their ability is so limited: within a certain distance of a warehouse, in certain weather, only small items. Not only that, but a lot of Amazon products are actually from private sellers who cannot possibly use drones.
People always think this stuff is ridiculous, but there are very smart people working full-time to solve all the little problems. To me, the real interesting part is if they can really get the AI smart enough to where they are not controlled individually by a human. There really is not much cost savings having a drone do it if you have to have a driver controlling it. A delivery guy is probably close to minimum wage, a drone driver? I don´t know.
It would be very cool if actual robots were to show up at your house eventually to deliver packages. I wonder if we would save on shipping charges? Something to ponder I suppose.
