I’m afraid you don’t get much for nothing in this day and age. If I were starting out again I would follow the more influential websites and forums and then do my own research.

There is one (sort of free) way to go. One of the best stock picking pubs is The Barron's Guide. Unlike the WSJ they actually here is do "put there name on it" and pick stocks. They continually offer free trial subscriptions. The normal price is around $250.00 per year.
