The stockmarket is a very fiickle animal - if you are out of favour you wont have a friend in the world, when it turns, it can turn very quickly! I wonder what the breakup value would be for the enlarged IBM group. Does anyone know?
After being slaughtered for what appeared to be relatively good long-term acquisition the share price has started to recover. It will need to break above the 20 day moving average which could lead to a surge towards the $140 level. Bombed out, looking to change the shape of the business in the long-term and a large buyback program on the table, not all doom and gloom?
Review: Buy on weakness ($119.90) The much heralded turnaround is taking longer than expected and acquisitions taking the company into new areas are causing concern. I would love to know the sum of the parts of the group - there must be some potential stand-alone gems in there?
While I like to concentrate on charts, the fundamentals for IBM are very appealing to me. Unless the share price is indicating major problems behind the scenes?
This one certainly slipped under the radar! In hindsight it was a no-brainer with the sum of the parts more than the value of the company.

This just shows that if you wait long enough then the underlying value of a company such as IBM will come to the fore. How many of us have the patience to wait this long?
If this is mainly a sell-off caused by general market concerns then any further weakness would be a very good buying opportunity.
IBM is bouncing along the support level, any bounce upwards could indicate further upside but further selling could see the price pull back significantly.
